Bridgeport News: Homicide Arrest

#Bridgeport News: On Wednesday night, January 11, 2023, officers responded to 804 Fairfield Avenue for an assault. When they arrived, they found the victim, 49-year-old Daniel Engeldrum, suffering from a head injury. Endgeldrum, who was homeless, was taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries two days later, on January 13, 2023. A subsequent autopsy confirmed his death was due to the assault and ruled a homicide. Detective Brian Coyne of the Homicide Unit was assigned the case and was assisted by the other members of the unit. A local man, 32-year-old Elijah Humphrey of 944 Fairfield Avenue, was quickly developed as a suspect, and during questioning, confessed. Humphrey was arrested today and charged with Manslaughter in…

Bridgeport News: Pedestrian Killed

Police UPDATE: On January 17, 2023, at approximately 1044 hours, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a phone call stating a pedestrian was struck by a dark green Toyota Camry, bearing Connecticut Classic registration 00SHRD, at the Intersection of East Main Street and Pulaski Street. The witness stated the pedestrian was bleeding from injuries sustained from the collision, and a dark green Toyota Camry drove away from the scene.   American Medical Response, Bridgeport Fire Engine E1, and the Bridgeport Police were dispatched to said location. Upon arrival, officers observed the pedestrian lying in the roadway at East Main Street and Pulaski Street unresponsive. AGI Buildings Coming Down

2:47pm--#Bridgeport CT-- The bank clock in the background timestamps the beginning of demolition of the former AGI Rubber Company located at 141 Stratford Avenue.  Yesterday there was another spectacular fire that has plagued the buildings over the years.    The city submitted an emergency demolition order today and Stamford Wrecking will be doing the demolition.  Workers said they are aware of PCBs on the site and will be shipping the debris to a "hot location" for dumping.  The materials will be treated later.  The workers were unaware of any work previously.  The city in May 2015 received a $200,000 grant from the EPA for PCB and building removal.  City spokesperson Rowena White says she is unaware of any work on the site regarding…

9:04pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Just as I was leaving the brush fire on Valley Road in Fairfield a call for a house fire on Queen Street a half a mile a way came in.  I know the firefighters are quick but I couldn't believe how quickly they had the bulk of this fire knocked down.  Multiple calls said there was flames shooting out of the chimney.  When I arrived the fire had already spread to the roof and the side of the house.  Everyone made it out safely and a police sergeant was consoling them.  Within minutes of the first fire truck the bulk of the fire was out and the began the important work of checking for extensions and making sure…
