Cooling Centers

Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reminding Connecticut residents that as the state is experiencing its first heat wave of the summer, cooling centers are open in towns and cities throughout the state and can be located by calling 2-1-1. “Today is expected to be humid and the hottest day of the heat wave with a heat index in the upper 90s.  A few simple steps can greatly reduce heat-related issues, especially for the elderly, the very young, and people with respiratory ailments who are more susceptible to the effects of high temperatures,” Governor Malloy said.  “Many towns have opened cooling centers across the state.  Any resident looking for a place to cool off should call 2-1-1 to find out where…

Bridgeport News: Kids Engage Police In Pursuit

#Bridgeport Connecticut--An eyewitness told me around 8pm police observed a white Nissan with temporary plates on Knollton Street traveling at a high rate of speed.  It wasn't until the car started running stop signs on East Washington Avenue the witness told me that police attempted to pull the car over.  A pursuit ensued through the Hollow, down Fairfield Avenue where they turned onto Norman Street and then onto State Street.  The car then attempted to go around a car at Iranistan Avenue when the hit it and flipped over.  My sources tell me the driver was 13, had an ankle bracelet and on parole.  The four youths in the car attempted to flee on foot but police quickly apprehended them.…

Stratford News: Porch Fire — Arson Arrest Made

UPDATE:  Arson Arrest--On 07-07-2016 Michael Sherwood age 51 of Stratford was arrested for Arson and assorted other charges following two (2) suspicious fires at 30 Sherwood Avenue. During the investigation it was determined that Sherwood had started the fires at the residence because the previous residents were required to move out when the new property owners took possession. During the interview and booking process Sherwood threatened officers. Sherwood is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Court on 07-18- 2016.
