Man Attempts to Steal Power Tool Using Stolen Car

(Bridgeport, CT – July 2, 2013) – John Fisher, 24, also had a suspended driver’s license. Officers Sarah Nestlen, Jose Luna and Michael Taylor were called to the Home Depot Sunday on a reported shoplifting. A loss prevention associate stated that he observed Fisher, of Derby, load a Dewalt Hammerdrill into a shopping cart and push it towards the exit. He then lifted it out of the carriage and attempted to walk out the store. The employee detained him and, after a scuffle, took him to the ground and handcuffed him. Fire Department Deputy Chief Retires After 36 Years

(Bridgeport, CT – June 28, 2013) -- Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Porzelt retired Friday after 36 years on the Bridgeport Fire Department. In his three-and-a-half decades, he saved lives, witnessed death, responded to some of the city’s largest catastrophes -- and had a hard time retiring. “He’s a good friend and a better firefighter,” said Fire Chief Brian Rooney. “He served this city well for a very long time.” Porzelt joined the department in 1976 after spending six years with the Bridgeport Board of Education as a plumber and welder.
