Southport News: Liquor Store Robbed At Gunpoint

2019-04-26 @ 8:5pm--#Fairfield CT-- #Southport CT-- Pequot Liquor at 3430 Post Road was robbed at gunpoint. Trumbull Student Receives Community Service Volunteer Award

#Trumbull CT-- On Friday, April 5th, Trumbull Police Chief Michael Lombardo presented Madison Middle School 8 th grader, Amanda Lepore, with a Community Service Volunteer Award. This was to acknowledge her fundraising efforts to purchase stuffed animals for kids in crisis. Amanda, who is a member of the National Junior Honor Society at Madison Middle School, was assigned to create a Community Service Project. Amanda wanted to help children who may be going through a tough time but was not exactly sure how she could do that. #Bridgeport CT--Mayor Ganim joined Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez to announce and introduce Chief Charles H. Ramsey and the 21st Century Policing Solutions as City of Bridgeport Police consultant for $25,000 for an unspecific time frame. Chief Ramsey was chief of police in Philadelphia and Washington DC. He will be looking into ways to improve the police department's performance. Mayor Ganim said he wants to be proactive and wants to be ahead of the challenges other cities may have had. Ramsey said it is a little too early to talk about changes. Bridgeport Police Contract Agreed Upon

BRIDGEPORT, CT - Mayor Ganim announced today that the city’s Department of Labor has reached a contract agreement with the Bridgeport Police Union Local, 1159.  This agreement is a fair compensation for the police officers and in the best of the City.   The City also extended these terms of the contract an additional year to June 30, 2021 which will eliminate incurring additional expenses related to negotiating a new contract. New terms of the agreement that are a cost savings or will increase revenue for the city include: Article 37.2 (B) - An increased police surcharge rate from $10.00 to $17.00 per hour.
