FAIRFIELD, CT — On June 23, 2024 at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Fairfield Police Department received a report of possible gunshots in the area of Fiske Street. Officers responded immediately, located shell casings at the scene, and secured the area until detectives arrived to process it for forensic evidence. Shortly after, a local hospital reported that a male victim had arrived with a gunshot wound to the leg. Fairfield Officers spoke with the victim, who refused to provide details about the incident but confirmed that no one else had been injured. The victim’s vehicle, also located at the hospital, had multiple bullet holes. Hamden Man Arrested in Connection with Westport Car Dealership Thefts

Westport, CT – Westport Police have arrested 22-year-old Brandon Sullo of Hamden in connection with a series of thefts involving tires and rims stolen from vehicles at Honda and Toyota of Westport. The incidents occurred between October 7 and November 23, 2024, during the early morning hours. Investigators used surveillance footage, search warrants, and inter-agency information sharing to identify Sullo as a suspect. Sullo turned himself in to Westport Police on April 14, 2025, and was charged with Larceny 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1st Degree, three counts of Larceny 2nd Degree, and three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 2nd Degree. GOVERNOR LAMONT, COMPTROLLER SCANLON ANNOUNCE ENHANCED CANCER SCREENINGS FOR FIREFIGHTERS

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Comptroller Sean Scanlon today announced that effective May 1, 2025, the State of Connecticut is expanding the benefits it provides to firefighters to include free, enhanced cancer screenings. This new benefit comes in response to evidence that firefighters, due to their repeated exposure to smoke, toxic chemicals, and carcinogens in the line of duty, have a greater prevalence of cancer diagnoses and cancer-related deaths than the general population. (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Education Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker today announced that the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) has responded to a recent request from the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) regarding Title VI compliance and has opted not to sign the letter, citing that Connecticut “already does and will continue to comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.” CSDE regularly reaffirms its compliance with all federal program assurances, through which USDOE continues to provide federal funding. Fatal Accident Investigation

At 3:51 AM on April 13, 2025, Norwalk emergency services responded to a serious crash at the intersection of West Avenue and Reed Street. Multiple 911 callers reported that a moped was struck by a vehicle. Police, fire, and EMS arrived on scene and began treating the moped operator, 52-year-old Jose Olavarria of Norwalk. He was transported to Norwalk Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle remained on scene.
