The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford, celebrates “National Take Your Child to the Library Day” on Saturday, February 1. The annual event is free and open to the public. ‘Take Your Child to the Library Day’ encourages families to visit their local library and discover everything it has to offer. This year’s theme is “Fun Around the World,” offering different activities throughout the day. From 10am-2pm, children can participate in a fun “Around the World” activity at each of the 7 continents. Chief Porter is a disgruntled ex-employee who has personal vendettas against some of our officers from his tenure as a captain with the Bridgeport Police Department. Bridgeport Regional Task Force Arrests Convicted Felon on Firearm and Drug Charges

In January, the Bridgeport Regional Task Force launched an investigation into Ralph Cora, 41, of Bridgeport, after receiving intelligence that he possessed a firearm despite previous felony convictions. On January 14, officers located Cora near Park Avenue and Gregory Street and conducted an investigative stop as he moved to Taft Avenue. A search of Cora’s vehicle uncovered a Palmetto Armory 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, a U.S. Army ballistic vest, and 110 bags of marijuana weighing approximately two pounds. Convicted Felon Arrested in Shelton on Multiple Firearm and Narcotics Charges

Shelton Police arrested Edward Vickers on January 16, 2025, in connection with a November 2023 incident where an AK-47 with a high-capacity magazine was discovered in plain view at a downtown Shelton residence during a burglary investigation. Following a search warrant, police uncovered 13 illegal firearms, narcotics, numerous high-capacity magazines, and body armor, linking the contraband to Vickers. He was not present at the time of the initial search, but subsequent investigations led to an arrest warrant. Vickers was apprehended in Bridgeport by members of several law enforcement agencies, including the DEA and Connecticut State Police, after being spotted entering his vehicle during surveillance. Westport Police responded to the Exxon gas station at 485 Post Road East on January 20, 2025, at approximately 3:44 PM for a stolen vehicle report. The complainant was pumping gas on the passenger side of their black 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS when a young Black male entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The suspect exited a car on Post Road East near the gas station before entering the victim’s vehicle without their knowledge. When the complainant tried to intervene by opening the driver’s door, the suspect drove off, causing the complainant to fall to the ground and sustain minor injuries. Bridgeport Teen Arrested for depositing Fraudulent Checks Totaling Over $5,600 in Westport

On October 20, 2024, Westport Police began investigating a complaint about fraudulent checks totaling more than $5,600 being deposited from a business account. Using search warrants and ATM surveillance, Marvin Morales-Pablo, 19, of Bridgeport, CT, was identified as a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, and Mr. Morales-Pablo was apprehended at his residence on January 8, 2025. He was transported to the Westport Police Department, charged with Larceny 3rd and Identity Theft 3rd, and held on a $100,000 court-set bond. Unable to post bond, he was transferred to Stamford Superior Court for arraignment on January 9, 2025.
