The annual Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Festival starts Friday September 6, 2024, and runs through Sunday September 8, 2024. Motorists should expect delays in lower East Norwalk as well as South Norwalk due to festival traffic.Seaview Avenue will be closed from Fort Point Street to East Avenue during the festival operating hours. East Avenue between Seaview Avenue and Van Zant Street will be one-way for northbound traffic only from Friday at 4:00pm through Sunday at 9:00pm.

Threatening Roommate Arrested: Convicted Felon Found with Two Handguns

On August 31, 2024, at approximately 3:52 AM, dispatch received a call about a threatening incident involving a firearm at 175 Helen St. The suspect, later identified as Willie Tyron Johnson, was reported to be chasing his roommates down the street while making threats with a firearm. Officers were quickly provided with a description of Johnson and his direction of travel, leading to his swift arrest by patrol officers. An investigation began immediately to find additional evidence. Johnson was subleasing a room at the address where the incident occurred. Bridgeport News: Donuts attract cops, leads to drug and firearm arrest

On September 1, 2024, at approximately 5:44 a.m., officers responded to an alarm call at Boca Oyster Bar, located at 10 East Main St. The alarm was determined to be false. As the officers were preparing to leave the scene, they noticed a Dodge Charger in the Bass Pro parking lot across the street performing "donuts" and spinning its tires, leaving fresh circular skid marks on the pavement. The driver of the Dodge Charger was later identified as Luis G. Hartwell. Ansonia News: Armed Robbery at Laundromat; Four suspects sought

On August 31, 2024 at 7:12 P.M., the Ansonia Police Department investigated a robbery at the AC Washing Well, 133 North Main Street. An employee reported that four Hispanic males enter the business and a short time later one of the males approached, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect took money from the register and another area of the business and all four males then fled the store leaving in a white Honda Civic. Bridgeport News: Seaview Ave Double Header Crash!

The second is reported by unconfirmed witness reports to be a hit and run with one car striking a building at Seaview Ave and Crescent Ave. Despite being only a block away, there is not at this time a known connection between the two crashes.

Shelton News: Two Arrested in Stolen Vehicle

On 09-03-24 just after midnight, Shelton Police were notified about a recent stolen vehicle out of Stratford. Several Shelton officers were working a construction job downtown at the time and noticed the vehicle in a parking lot on Center St. As officers approached the vehicle, three people fled on foot. Officers searched the area and were able to locate two of the three suspects. 18-year-old Devin Overton of Ansonia was arrested and charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Interfering. Overton was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is scheduledto appear at Derby Superior Court on 10-24-24. A 17-year-old male from Shelton was arrested for the same charges and released.

BRIDGEPORT TASK FORCE MAKE ARREST FOR FIREARM AND NARCOTICS VIOLATIONS

On August 26, the Bridgeport Police Regional Task Force received a tip about 25-year-old Steven Ramos, who was believed to be carrying an illegal firearm. Officers located Ramos driving near Park Avenue and South Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. Ramos, a convicted felon, was found with a loaded Glock 9mm handgun equipped with an extended 24-round magazine hidden in his waistband. During a search following his arrest, officers also discovered 3.85 grams of crack cocaine and 2.97 grams of fentanyl on him. Ramos was arrested and charged with several offenses, including illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a high-capacity magazine, illegal transfer of a firearm, and possession of controlled substances.

The City of Bridgeport Department of Public Facilities Announces East Washington Avenue Bridge Deck Rehabilitation

Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Public Facilities Department has announced that construction will begin for the East Washington Avenue Bridge Deck on September 5, 2024. The bridge was previously fixed in place by the City making the bridge inoperable after the water channel below the bridge was deemed non-navigable by the US Coast Guard. The scope of the project is to only repair the concrete decking portion of the bridge while removing one inch of the existing deck. The project will also consist of the installation of a waterproofing membrane and pave one inch of high-strength asphalt, approved by the Department of Transportation. The project is expected to take 2-3 weeks, weather dependent, with a project end date of September 26, 2024.…
