DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fire Department UPDATE: On February 7, 2018 at 6:15pm Westport Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a truck on fire at 119 North Avenue. The Westport Fire Department initially responded with 2 Engines and the Shift Commander. While responding the Westport Fire Dispatch received information that the vehicle was close to the house and other vehicles. An additional Engine and Ladder truck were dispatched. Engine 6 from the Coleytown Fire Station was first to arrive and reported a contractors van heavily involved in fire. Engine 6 reported no fire threatening the home or other vehicles. Norwalk News: Firearm/Burglary Arrest

#Norwalk CT--On January 22, 2018, at 4:53pm, officers from the Patrol Division responded to a burglary at a residence on Hadik Parkway. Arriving officers ascertained that the suspects had fled the scene prior to their arrival. However, officers obtained a vehicle description and suspect information from the complainant, who was home during the incident. The complainant stated the suspects attempted to force open two exterior doors however, they were unable to gain entry into the residence. A short time later officers located the suspect vehicle stopped in front of 7 Midwood Road. Fairfield News: Bank Robbery

The Fairfield Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at the Key Bank, 1731 Post Rd. at 11:30 am on 02/07/2018. The suspect pictured below entered the store and passed the clerk a note that indicated that he was committing a robbery. The suspect left out the back door of the business with an undisclosed amount of cash and the clerk called police immediately after the incident occurred. Nobody at the scene was injured. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras within the store. The suspect is described as an African American male, wearing dark sunglasses, blue gloves, a dark colored hoodie, dark pants and tan shoes. State Police UPDATE: On February 7, 2018 at approximately 00:26 a.m., troopers from Troop G - Bridgeport were conducting speed enforcement on I-95 southbound in the area of exit 40, Milford when they observed a black Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed. Troopers attempted to stop the Honda; however the operator increased speed and engaged troopers in pursuit. Troop G dispatch notified troopers that the Honda was reported stolen out of Ansonia. The Honda continued to traveling south on I-95, at times in excess of 120mph, before the operator eventually lost control on the exit 27A off-ramp in Bridgeport and struck the left side barrier. Westport News: Library Employee Charged With Child Porn

#Westport CT--On August 28, 2017, the Westport Police Department received information from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crime Unit of suspected child pornography being shared online. The complaint involved an unidentified person in Westport sharing a picture of child pornography over Facebook with another unidentified person who does not reside in Connecticut. Sergeant Sereniti Dobson of the Westport Police Youth Division initiated an investigation and was able to identify the suspect who shared the image as Robert Kelly, age 43, of Westport, CT. On January 16, 2018, members of the Westport Detective Bureau, with the assistance of the regional Technical Investigation Unit, executed a search warrant at Kelly’s residence.
