Child Tax Rebates

The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services last week began issuing rebates to qualified households as part of the 2022 Connecticut Child Tax Rebate program. The state agency anticipates that most of the rebates will be mailed by the end of this week, and recipients should begin receiving them over the next several days.Created as part of the budget bill that Governor Lamont signed into law this spring, the initiative is providing taxpayers with a state tax rebate of up to $250 per child for a maximum of three children (up to $750). Ansonia News: Abduction Arrest

#Ansonia CT-- On August 27, 2022, at about 5:15 P.M. the Ansonia Police Department received a complaint of an abduction of a female and her sixth-month-old daughter on High Street. The first officers on the scene met the complaint who reported her sister, Galylea Perez, age 22, and Galylea’s six-month-old daughter Eliana Perez was forced into a car by Joshua Lopez, age 23, the father of Eliana. Joshua was driving a four-door silver Honda Accord with Massachusetts registration 2NCT89. The complainant reported Joshua implied he had a gun but no weapon was displayed. Bridgeport News: 2nd Overnight Shooting

#Bridgeport CT-- On August 28, 2022 at approximately 3:05 am the Bridgeport Police Emergency Operations Center received a report of several shots fired at the BP Gas Station located at 1464 Fairfield Avenue. No victim(s) were located at the scene or at area hospitals immediately following the incident. Patrol Officers discovered more than 20 shell casings at the gas station and submitted them into evidence.At approximately 6:35 am this morning a 35-year-old Bridgeport man arrived at Bridgeport Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right eye. Bridgeport News: Person Shot Overnight

#Bridgeport CT-- On August 27, 2022 at approximately 10:35 pm the Bridgeport Police Emergency Operations Center received a ShotSpotter activation (2 rounds) within the 100 block of Ogden Street. A few minutes later Bridgeport Hospital staff reported a person arrived at their Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim, identified as a 35-year-old Bridgeport man, is reported to have been grazed in the neck by gunfire while seated in a parked vehicle located on Ogden Street. The gunshot wound is reported to be non-life-threatening and the victim is listed in stable condition.ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system.
