Bridgeport News: Suspicious Package Update

9:35am--#Bridgeport CT-- A female caller at the Optimus Health Care at 982 East Main Street that a package that was supposed to contain a watch was much larger than expected.  The area was closed off and business nearby evacuated.  State Police Bomb Squad was called in and by noontime the area and facility were deemed safe to occupy.   I think I'd be suspcious of the package too.  The sender was Rong Kai FU Company (see close up insert top left of the photo).

Bridgeport News: Police Officer Injured In Crash

UPDATE: Police say one of their officers was hurt today when his cruiser crashed while responding to the home of a city man believed to have struck a Danbury Police officer with his car — in Danbury — earlier in the day. 4:03pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A police officer received a hand injury after striking a fire hydrant on Washington Avenue near West Avenue.  Police spokesperson Av Harris said the officer was cutoff by a woman who failed to stop for a stop sign.  Harris said, Officer, Escalan recevied a minor injury to  his right hand and was transported to the hospital.

#Bridgeport CT--Police need your help identifying the man who attempted to break into a home on Tesiny Avenue. The picture was taken from a residential doorbell camera.  As the video was captured during the nighttime hours the night vision was activated on the camera.  The suspect is possibly a Black or Hispanic male with a neatly trimmed beard, a puffy coat, and dark color baggy jeans. The front door had tool marks observed on the inner area of the doorframe. Entry was not made but the door fell apart as the homeowner opened the door. *It is possible the suspect had a large screwdriver or small crowbar.   If you know this person or have any information please call the confidential…

#Bridgeport Flips Switch On Micrgrid

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim and City officials last week flipped the switch on a first-of-its-kind ‘microgrid’ generator that will supply cleaner energy to power City Hall, Police Headquarters, and the Eisenhower Senior Center. The microgrid project is a standalone power generation system providing uninterrupted, environmentally friendly and reliable power to all three facilities. This project combines a new traditional natural gas reciprocating generator that can run around the clock with a microgrid distribution system. Bridgeport News: Mayor Ganim Declares Snow Emergency

Bridgeport, CT – In anticipation of the pending winter storm due to impact Bridgeport, Mayor Joe Ganim is declaring a snow emergency for the city to take effect at 6:00 p.m., today, March 12, 2018.   During the snow emergency, residents must move their cars off posted snow emergency streets. Alternate side of the street parking rules are in effect as of 6:00 p.m. today for all other streets throughout the city in order to allow snow plow drivers’ clear passage. March 13 is an ODD number day; therefore, residents should park on the side of the street with addresses that are ODD numbers beginningtonight.  Snow emergency streets are marked with white signs with red lettering.
