5:00pm–#Fairfield Connecticut– Firefighters were called to a structure fire at 241 Old Stratfield Road. The visible flames were seen from a rear bedroom window. Radio reports said that neighbors were setting up ladders to get the people from the second floor out of the building. Everyone made it safely out of the home. Firefighters had to enter through a window on the second floor taking up valuable time. Firefighters had a hard time entering the first floor door. A representative from the building department was requested to the scene as well as animal control for the pets living in the home. There were no reported injuries. There has been a recent upsurge in rumors regarding various clowns/clown groups. The rumors have been generated by various social media posts; some indicating that such clowns/clown groups are potentially violent. To date, there have been no threats made against any Fairfield school. Further, recent clown threats made in other communities have proven to be not credible.

#Fairfield Connecticut–Panel Discussion with Romance Writers at Fairfield Public Library [Fairfield, CT, September 30, 2016] There will be a panel discussion with romance writers at the Fairfield Public Library on Saturday, October 8. The discussion will be held in the Memorial Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road at 11:00 a.m. According to Romance Writers of America, romance novels are making a huge comeback. Join us for a lively discussion on the writing, the history and the future of romance novels. There will be a panel of historical and contemporary romance authors to discuss their books and the writing process. The program will be led by author and visual artist Gail Ingis and author Claire Gem. Their titles will be available for purchase and signing.
Advanced registration is required due to the limited space. All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free of charge. Westport News: Fatal Accident I-95
8:20pm –UPDATE: Firefighters report the northbound lane has reopened.
7:11pm–#cttraffic–#Westport Connecticut– I-95 north and southbound is a parking lot with a fatal crash at exit 18. Fairfield firefighters arriving to assist Westport on the southbound lane according to radio reports. Avoid the area, they highway will probably be closed due to the accident investigation.

UPDATE: Sad to report that the woman, Patricia Barger, 86 died of her injuries. Sharon Ranney was the driver of the striking vehicle. No charges have been filed at this time.
8:02pm–#Fairfield Connecticut– Witnesses said an older woman darted in the busy Black Rock Turnpike near Katona Drive and was struck by a black Lexus. First responders said the woman was unconciouss and EMS worked to stabilize her before transporting her to St. Vincent’s Hospital. There is no crosswalk at that intersection. The driver of the Lexus was visibly upset and was cooperating with police.
