Fairfield Police Department Launching School Zone Speed Safety Program Beginning 5/1/2026 Fairfield, CT – The Fairfield Police Department, in partnership with Altumint, announced the launch of Fairfield’s School Zone Speed Safety Program at designated school zone locations throughout town. The program will begin on 5/1/2026 with a warning period running through 5/31/2026. During this time, qualifying violations captured at posted locations will result in warning notices. Beginning 6/1/2026, citations will be issued for qualifying violations. The School Zone Speed Safety Program was created to encourage safer driving speeds and help protect students, families, school staff, and all pedestrians traveling through school zones. According to police, officers responded on July 9, 2022, to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at the Calvin United Church of Christ on Kings Highway East, where a large gathering of several hundred people was underway. Fairfield Police Arrest Two in Package Theft and Fraud Scheme

Fairfield, CT — The Fairfield Police Department arrested two individuals on 3/4/2026 following an investigation into package thefts in the area of James Street and Pratt Street. At approximately 1:50 PM, police received a complaint of two individuals removing packages from residential properties. Responding officers locate the suspect vehicle in the area and identified the occupants as Teon Thomas, 24, of Rochester, NY, and Dawud Gause-Seignious, 23, of Wyandanch New York.     Through the investigation, officers determined that the suspects were involved in a scheme using fictitious names to order energy efficient thermostats through a rebate program and have them delivered to residential addresses in Fairfield.
