Southwest Community Health Center Serves Our Community

The Southwest Community Heath Center on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport conducted a health care fair today after being rained out yesterday. I had a chance to talk to Samuel Diaz III about their services.   Their goal today was to raise about the services the offer the community whether it be health or dental care.  Southwest services all of the greater Bridgeport area (Fairfield and Stratford) and accepts most health insurance including all state insurance like Husky and Medicare and have assistance in signing people up with  Access Health CT.  Sliding fee scales and financing are available for those.  They have locations throughout the area.  Contact Southwest Community Health Center  at 203.330.6000 or at  http://www.swchc.org/

Stratford News: Home Invasion

#Stratford CT--Early Tuesday morning at 2:30am Stratford Police were dispatched to a home on Birdseye Street for a report of a home invasion. The victims reported that male suspects entered the rear yard and pistol whipped two people on the outside deck and forcing them inside the home. Once inside the pistol whipped two more people and held them at gunpoint. The other suspect then ransacked the home removing jewelry, money and electronics and then fled. The Stratford Detective Bureau arrived on scene to follow up on leads. Two suspects were located at the local hotel at 360 Honeyspot Road and an apprehended by the detectives and police patrol. Stratford’s U DRIVE, U TEXT, U PAY Crackdown

#Stratford, CT – The Stratford Police Department along with the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office, today announced the continuation of the “U DRIVE, U TEXT, U PAY.” initiative – an effort to crackdown on motorists who choose to text, talk or otherwise distract themselves from the task of driving by using a hand-held mobile phone. According to surveys conducted before and after April’s crackdown, there was an eight percent drop in mobile phone use by drivers at observation locations throughout municipalities where police conducted enforcement. The drop in observed use is encouraging to law enforcement agencies, and demonstrates the need to reinforce to motorists that mobile phone use while driving is both dangerous and illegal. The campaign will run from August 3rd through the 16th and marks…

10:46pm--#cttraffic--#Stratford CT-- A crash on I-95 northbound on the Moses Wheeler Bridge.   Traffic does not seem to be too badly backed up at this time.
