Trumbull Police Update On Mall Brawl

2019-12-26@7:00PMish–Numerous teenagers were involved in several altercations at the Westfield Trumbull mall on Thursday evening, prompting a significant police response to restore order. Shortly before 7 p.m., several Trumbull police officers were patrolling the mall on foot when they were notified of a fight that broke out between several teenagers on the upper level near the Target store. The responding officers were able to break up the melee and detained six (6) of the subjects as they attempted to flee. As the crowd dispersed, other groups of teens congregated at other locations throughout the mall and more fights broke out.

 

Due to the large crowds and the disorderly conditions, Trumbull Police requested mutual aid and were assisted by officers from Bridgeport PD, Fairfield PD, and Monroe PD. K-9 officers were also used to disperse the crowds and escort groups of teens out of the mall. Trumbull EMS and AMR also assisted and treated three individuals who were injured during the altercations. One involved a juvenile male who was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital, and another involved a juvenile female who was transported to Bridgeport Hospital; both suffered minor injuries. One bystander suffered minor injuries as well, but declined medical attention. The Westfield Trumbull Mall remained open during the scheduled business hours, as officers escorted a large number of teens out of the mall, and the atmosphere returned to normal shortly after 8 p.m.

 

As a result of the incident, Daniel Vasquez, age 19, of Bridgeport was arrested and charged with Breach of Peace. He was given a court date of January 2, 2020, to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court. Six (6) juveniles were also arrested and charged with Breach of Peace and Interfering with Police.

Fight At Trumbull Mall

Police UPDATE: Daniel Vasquez, 19, of Bridgeport, and six juveniles were arrested and charged with breach of peace.  3 people were injured.  Trumbull police called for mutual aid from Bridgeport, Fairfield and Monroe and K9 officers responded to help break up the crowd.  The mall management refused to shut down according to multiple police radio reports.

Downed Wires and Tree Limbs Slow Traffic

2019-12-17@5:33pm–#Fairfield CT– This incident happened on Stratfield Road between Montauk and Senior Place but it is happening all over.  Poor visibility caused two driver to run into this downed branch.  It may be 35 degrees out but the trees and elevated things like wires are icing and coming down.

 

Trumbull News: Infant Left Unattended In A car

2019-11-22@12:00PMish–#Trumbull CT– Trumbull Police arrested a woman for leaving an infant unattended in a motor vehicle while she was shopping and eating food at a store inside the Hawley Lane Mall. Angela Ruggiero, age 38 of Beacon Falls, was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor, and Interfering with an Officer after she struggled with officers who were called for a trespassing complaint at the store. Ruggiero’s 13-month-old niece was located inside of a 2017 Nissan Sentra that was parked in the mall parking lot, where she had been left unattended for nearly an hour.

 

Just after 12:00 noon, employees of the Five Below store reported that Ruggiero appeared to be intoxicated and was eating food while shopping in the store. She refused to leave when employees approached her, which eventually led to her arrest. A variety of merchandise was opened and discarded in the store by Ruggiero.

 

When officers arrived and attempted to speak with her, Ruggiero was uncooperative and had trouble locating her identification. She referred to her niece who was waiting to return home, although Ruggiero initially reported that she was alone. Officers located numerous bottles of alcohol, which presented concern for her ability to drive away. Further investigation revealed the child who had been left alone in the locked car for an extended period of time.

 

Ruggiero was held on a $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on November 29th.

Trumbull News: Trumbull PD Charge Waterbury Man On Robbing Elderly Woman

#Trumbull CT– Trumbull Police detectives charged a Waterbury man for robbing an elderly woman at the Westfield Trumbull Mall in August and stealing her car. Jordan Savage, age 25, of Waterbury, was apprehended when he was stopped by Watertown Police on Friday night and was arrested without incident after they learned of the active warrant for his arrest out of Trumbull. He was transported to Trumbull Police Headquarters where he was processed on numerous charges. After an extensive investigation, Trumbull Police detectives had identified Savage through a series of related crimes and an additional stolen vehicle from locations in Connecticut and New York State. The vehicle he had stolen from Trumbull was recovered days later in Staten Island, NY and a second stolen vehicle led to Tarrytown, NY.

 

Evidence recovered from the Trumbull victim’s vehicle aided the police in identifying Savage and brought the investigation to Waterbury. An arrest warrant was obtained for Savage, and police expect that additional charges may be lodged by other agencies in New York. Savage was charged with Robbery in the Third degree, Assault of an Elderly Person, Larceny in the Second degree, Larceny in the Third degree, and Larceny in the Sixth degree. He was held on a $60,000 court set bond, and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on November 15, 2019.

 

[ORIGINAL post] On Saturday, August 10th, at approximately 12:04 p.m., an 82 year old woman was walking into the Westfield Trumbull Mall when she was pushed to the ground by an unidentified male who stole her purse and fled in her gray Honda Accord. The victim stated that she was walking in the parking lot towards JC Penney when she was attacked. Witnesses stated that they heard a woman screaming for help and observed the suspect running away with the victim’s beige purse. He then sped away in the victim’s vehicle, toward the Main Street exit. The witnesses notified the police immediately. The victim suffered minor injuries that included abrasions on her arms and legs. Trumbull EMS responded and provided medical care to the victim on scene, but she refused further medical assistance. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his twenties, about 5′ 9” tall, with a close-cropped haircut, wearing grey sweat pants, and a white, yellow and red windbreaker jacket. Trumbull Police detectives are actively investigating to identify the assailant.
