VETERANS INCLUDED IN COST OF WAR ACT

WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) applauded the unveiling of the Comprehensive and Overdue Support for Troops (COST) of War Act today with several provisions he championed to establish presumptive conditions and provide benefits to thousands of toxic exposure veterans, including Palomares and K2 veterans. The legislation will be considered tomorrow during a Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee markup. “This landmark legislation will provide veterans suffering from the effects of toxic exposure with the long-overdue health care and benefits they deserve,” said Blumenthal. “It will also vastly improve the process for establishing new presumptive conditions, rooting it in science and making it easier for veterans. Bridgeport News: Person Shot

#Bridgeport CT-- The Bridgeport ECC received a ShotSpotter activation at approximately 17:49 hours (5:49pm) in the 1000th block of Pembroke St.  BPD Units were sent to the scene to investigate and discovered shell casings and two vehicles that were struck by gunfire.  At 17:57 hours, Bridgeport hospital called into ECC to notify of a victim that was transported by private vehicle that just arrived at this hospital.  The condition of the victim is unknown at this time. Bridgeport News: Illegal Club Arrests

On May 16, 2021, at approximately 1:56 a.m. Bridgeport Police responded to 1023 Main Street (Temple of the Way - House of Worship) on a report of shots fired.  Upon arrival patrol officers located 38-year-old Charles Dimples Barnes shot to death in the basement of this location.  Patrol officers also located 40-year-old Norman Charles Peters on the basement floor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Peters was transported to Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he later died from those injuries. An investigation into the illegal operation of an after-hours club at 1023 Main Street was conducted by the Bridgeport Police Department Narcotics and Vice Division.  As a result of that investigation Detective Vincent Lariccia and Detective Timothy Leonard secured arrest warrants charging…
