Bridgeport News: 2 Shootings Ring In The New Year

2021-01-01@1:40pm--#Bridgeport CT-- One person was shot in the 1400 block of Reservoir Avenue. The victim was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital by private vehicle. 3:30pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Another person was grazed by a bullet on Fairfield Avenue near Albion Street. There were no serious injury reported. Shell casings were found at both locations. DoingItLocal was the ONLY news source as either scene.

Bridgeport News: Fire in Black Rock

2021-01-01@7:54--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 765 Brewster St. Upon arrival, companies had fire coming from the second and third floors, towards the rear. Companies made an interior attack. As the fire spread through out the house, companies were briefly withdrawn from the building. The bulk of the fire was knocked down and members went back in to complete overhaul. Cause is under investigation. Red Cross notified for several relocations. No injuries to public or firefighters.

Stratford News: Armed Robbery

2020-12-28@9:46pm--#Stratford CT-- The Stratford Police Department responded to the Dao Asian Cuisine Restaurant located at 7365 Main Street for an armed robbery. The employees reported that a man entered the restaurant armed with a rifle. He pointed it at the employees and demanded money and the robber fled with an unknown amount of cash. No one was injured during the event. On December 29, Stratford Detectives with the assistance of Bridgeport Police arrested Kemuel Jimenez-Rivera, 39 of Bridgeport for the robbery. He was charged with Robbery 1st degree, Threatening 1st degree, Illegal use of a facsimile firearm, and larceny 6th degree. He was held on $250,000 bond. Police say the investigation remains active.

BRIDGEPORT POLICE PURSUIT AND FIREARM RECOVERY

#BRIDGEPORT, CT –On Monday December 28, 2020 at 6:38pm while patrolling the PT Barnum Apartment Complex a Bridgeport Police Officer observed a vehicle that was driving suspiciously and proceeded to roll through a stop sign. While initiating a traffic stop at the intersection of Wordin Avenue and Fairfield Avenue, the vehicle proceeded to speed away from the officer eastbound on Fairfield Avenue where it proceeded to crash into traffic coming off the highway. The Officer upon approaching the scene of the incident saw the drive flee the vehicle and proceed eastbound on Fairfield Avenue towards Commerce Drive. Governor’s Staff Tests Positive For Covid

#HARTFORD, CT – Paul Mounds, chief of staff for the Office of the Governor, today announced that a member of Governor Ned Lamont’s staff has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, SARS CoV-2. The staff member was in the office as recently as Wednesday, December 23, but had only brief interaction with Governor Lamont from an appropriate social distance while wearing a mask, and the governor will not be self-quarantining as a result.
