Senator Murphy Wants NCAA To Compensate Student Athletes

WASHINGTON – As the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) begins the Sweet 16 tournament, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, on Thursday released the first in a series of reports that will consider a range of problems within college athletics. The report titled Madness Inc.: How Everyone is Getting Rich Off College Sports – Except the Players will examine the profits of college sports and how the NCAA enriches nearly every entity but the student-athletes. I-95 Tractor Trailer Rollover

2019-03-28 @ 4:51am--#Westport CT--The Westport Fire Department responded to a reported Tractor Trailer Rollover on Interstate 95 Northbound between Exits 18 -19. Westport responded with 2 Engines, a Rescue and a Shift Commander. The first unit arrived on scene and reported a Tractor Trailer on its side with 1 occupant trapped in the cab. Units also reported a small fuel additive leak. The occupant was extricated by Westport and Fairfield Fire Departments. The occupant was transported by Westport EMS to a local hospital. Units continue to operate on the scene with CT State Police, DEEP, CT DOT, CT DCP and private contractors for clean-up. Commuters can expect delays on Interstate 95 Northbound between Exits 18-19 through the morning commute.  …

Stratford News: Gun Charges After Pursuit

Eris Hall age 22 of Bridgeport was arrested on 03-26-2019 after he led an officer on a car chase. The incident started at approximately 9:36pm on Stratford Avenue near Honeyspot Road and ended on Bruce Avenue. Hall refused to stop for officers and during his attempt to flee he threw a firearm out of the window of the vehicle. Hall had unloaded and dismantled the weapon prior to discarding it. The weapon, ammunition and high capacity magazine were recovered by investigating officers. #Norwalk CT--On March 22, 2019, the Norwalk Police Department was contacted by Recreation and Parks regarding a car meet scheduled for March 24, 2019 at Calf Pasture Beach.  Recreation and Parks advised that the gathering was not authorized and that a permit had not been issued. An Instagram post advertising the car meet was located.
