Governor Lamont Activates Extreme Hot Weather Protocol Ahead of First Heat Wave of 2026

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont announced that Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol will be activated from 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, through 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, as the state prepares for its first heat wave of the season. Forecasters expect temperatures to exceed 90 degrees each day, with heat index values reaching or surpassing 100 degrees at times. Heat advisories have been issued for most of Connecticut, with inland areas expected to experience the most severe conditions. The protocol is designed to protect vulnerable residents during periods of extreme heat. On Friday, May 29, 2026, the Bridgeport Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Division, working alongside the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Drug Control Division, the Bridgeport Fire Inspectors Office, and the Bridgeport Health and Building Departments, executed a search and seizure warrant at Dice Convenience Smoke Shop, located at 4016 Main Street. During the operation, authorities seized approximately 23.24 pounds of cannabis and THC-related products as part of an ongoing effort to address the illegal sale of cannabis products from smoke shops in Bridgeport. Officers also recovered $654 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal sales. Bridgeport Woman Fatally Stabbed at Park Avenue Rooming House; Homicide Investigation Underway

The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating the death of a woman found stabbed at a Park Avenue rooming house shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Officers were dispatched to the 350 block of Park Avenue around 12:05 am for an altercation involving numerous persons. The victim, 41-year-old Willesha Riddick of Bridgeport, was bleeding and unresponsive at the front door of the house. She was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital and pronounced deceased. It was determined Ms. Reddick was stabbed multiple times. A second female suffered a minor stab wound at the house.
