1:55am–#Bridgeport CT– Two women were stabbed in the 200 block of Wells Street. Witnesses told me that there was arguing for over a half hour before police were called for the stabbing. Both women were stabbed in the arm. At 2:11am police received a call from one of the hospitals that they another stabbing victim, it is not known if it is connected to this stabbing.
11:40pm–#Bridgeport CT– Police received a couple calls on shots fired near the movie theaters at Fairfield Avenue and Alfred Street, possibly inside a white car. Police arrive but cannot locate the car nor a crime scene. A short time later police received a call from St. Vincent’s that a person was shot. This allegedly happened between a boyfriend-girlfriend, and it sounds like the boyfriend is the one shot. Detectives are investigating.

9:29pm– #Bridgeport CT — firefighters on scene of a kitchen fire at 1776 East Main Street. Everybody got out of the house safely no reported injuries. This is close to the intersection of Boston Avenue avoid the area.
UPDATE From Westport Fire Department:
At 8:53 this evening the Westport Fire Department Communications Center received a 911 call from an employee at Trader Joes on the Post Road reporting a fire in a refrigeration unit inside the store. The employee was attempting to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher but was unsuccessful. Dispatch advised the employee to pull the fire alarm to evacuate the store. Two engines, a truck company, and the shift commander responded initially. The first unit to arrive found smoke coming from the front of the store so the call was upgraded to a full structure fire response bringing an additional two engines from Westport and an additional engine from Fairfield. Firefighters confirmed with Trader Joes management that the store was fully evacuated and then located a deep seated fire inside a freezer unit. As the fire was being controlled, firefighters checked surrounding stores for extension of the smoke and made their way to the basement of Trader Joes to secure power inside the store. The fire was quickly confined to a small area
within the store’s main level and fully extinguished within approximately 15 minutes, while firefighters checked the surrounding areas of the store with thermal imaging cameras.
During the fire, Norwalk Fire Department provided coverage at Westport Headquarters for any simultaneous emergency calls. The last Westport fire unit cleared the scene at 10:31PM
The Westport Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Never ignore a fire alarm, assume that it is a false alarm or that it is a test. The most important thing you can do when the fire alarm sounds leave the building and do not re-enter the building until advised to do so by the Fire Department.

#Westport CT–The Westport Police Department is proud to announce that we will be offering a Citizens’ Police Academy starting on September 29th. Participants will gain a better understanding of the role of the police department in the community. The academy can accommodate up to twenty-four community members who will participate in classes designed to take them through the various aspects of law enforcement. They will learn about the different divisions and specialized units of the department as well as how the department operates. Participants will observe demonstrations and get hands on experience with some of the equipment we use every day. Academy instructors consist of highly trained and experienced Westport Police Officers. In addition to the classes, participants will have the opportunity to experience a “ride-a- long” with an officer from the patrol division. They will also receive CPR/AED certification.
The program begins on September 29 th . Class participants will meet Friday evenings from 7:00pm- 9:30 pm for five weeks and on Tuesdays for the remaining four weeks of the program. This class provides participants and officers an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss issues that affect our community. The academy is open to Westport residents age 21 and older. 8:46pm–#Bridgeport CT– Multiple calls for shots fire in Washington Park at Barnum and Noble Avenue. So far no one or anything reported hit.

Stratford Fire Department Press Release: Stratford Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire within a boat that was on a trailer located at 150 Dawn Drive. Engine Company 4 arrived at the above address to find a 26
foot Chaparral SSX ski boat, in the driveway on a trailer heavily involved with fire and extending to the garage of the house. Fire Crews, Engine 4, Engine 2, Engine 1, Engine 3 Tack 5 and Truck 2 under the command of Assistant Chief Brennan were able to extinguish the blasé on the boat within 15 minutes and limit the homes damage to simple
melting of the vinyl siding. Assistance was gained from Shelton Fire Department due to the limited water supply in the area.
No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the Stratford Fire Marshal’s Office.
