Stratford Structure Fire
Fire department UPDATE: At approximately 2058 hours on Thursday September 26,2024 the Stratford Communication Center received notification from on duty Stratford Fire personnel returning from nighttime marine training ,of a large volume of smoke emitting from the front door at the above mentioned address. While the responding firefighters were enroute to the location, Stratford Firefighters entered the residence and evacuated the occupants still in the residence with the fire alarm sounding. This report summoned a residential structure fire assignment consisting of all on duty fire apparatus under the direction of Assistant Chief Michael Camperlengo for a total of 22 firefighters in addition to the four firefighters who entered the residential boarding home. LIBRARY TO OPEN SUNDAYS BEGINNING OCTOBER 6
Special Programming Announced The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford will reopen on Sundays beginning October 6, 2024. Hours on Sunday will be from 1-5 pm and will continue until May 18, 2025. On opening day (October 6) the Library will return with its popular “Sunday Afternoon Talks” series featuring returning guest speaker/author Hamis Lutris. The author will discuss his new novel, Earth Ascendant: Awakening.This is the first of four volumes of a fast-paced, character-driven fantasy/science-fiction series. Upcoming Sundays will offer a variety of diverse programming including musician Marc Berger on October 13, Psychic Patty Griffin (October 20) and live performance readings, “An Afternoon with Nutmeg Writers” (October 27). Update in Two Officers Injured, Shoplifting Suspects Arrested After High-Stakes Pursuit in Fairfield
https://youtu.be/s2fyzdsoCxM On September 24, 2024, Fairfield Police were called to Home Depot on Kings Highway Cutoff after reports of two known shoplifters, Amanda Belcher and James Coates, who had been previously banned from the store. The suspects attempted to steal over $1,200 in merchandise when loss prevention alerted police. Both suspects had multiple active warrants from several jurisdictions, including Fairfield, Greenwich, and Naugatuck. When officers arrived, Belcher fled on foot but was pursued by police through the parking lot. She managed to enter a vehicle, dragging one officer as she reversed, and collided with another car before escaping the scene. School Bus Accident

Fire Department Hosts Annual Promotion & Swearing-In Ceremony at Klein Memorial

The event, which began at 5:30 PM, celebrated the promotion of 36 department members, advancing through the ranks of Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Assistant Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Pumper Engineer, and Fire Inspector. Each was formally sworn in during the ceremony. In addition to the promotions, 15 firefighter recruits from Class 02-2023 were officially sworn in after successfully completing their 1-year probationary period, marking a significant milestone in their careers. Family, friends, and fellow firefighters gathered to celebrate the honorees as they continue to serve and protect the community.
Illegal revolver removed from streets following arrest
On September 23, 2024, officers on Harral Avenue encountered Dantaye Francis, who was found in possession of a loaded revolver without a permit. Francis was arrested and charged with illegal transfer/purchase of a revolver and carrying a pistol without a permit. His bond was set at $5,000.
