The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a series of virtual public information meetings to launch the 2021-2025 Connecticut State Rail Plan update. The kickoff meetings will provide the public and stakeholders an opportunity to learn about the purpose and requirements of the Connecticut State Rail Plan and how its updates were initiated. The first meeting will begin on August 31, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. Additional meetings will be held on September 2, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., and September 9, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. All sessions will present the same information and will be live-streamed via Microsoft Teams Live Event and YouTube Live. Bridgeport News: Firearm Recovery

#Bridgeport CT-- On August 19, 2021 at approximately 1:07 pm the Bridgeport Police Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) responded to the intersection of Arctic Street and Pembroke Street on a report of a person in that area with a firearm.  Upon officers arrival the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Kevin Despres of Middletown Connecticut, observed the police vehicles and immediately began to run away from them unsolicited. Officers engaged the suspect in foot pursuit and observed Despres grabbing at his waist band. Despres then pulled a handgun from his waistband.  As Despres was running away, he tripped and fell to the ground allowing the police officers to catch up to him and take him into custody without further incident.  A loaded .22 caliber pistol was recovered. 2021-08-20 #Bridgeport CT-- Two more officers are leaving the Bridgeport Police Department. Officer Robert Roj is taking his experience to Easton and Steven Caldwell to Greenwich. This makes five to leave the force this week. However, I'm told by multiple source that some of these officers were suppose to leave in July but their paperwork was purposefully delayed to delay the inevitable. Three days ago when three other officers left I reached out to Rowena White, Mayor Ganim's director of communications" and emailed her "I know three officers just left for Shelton today.  What should the police force be at full staffing and what are the levels now?  Will the chief be declaring another state of emergency anytime soon like…

Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he has issued an executive order related to the COVID-19 emergency declarations (Executive Order No. 13D) requiring that all Connecticut state employees and staff of all childcare facilities and preK-12 schools statewide must have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by September 27, 2021. Those who do not get vaccinated due to certain exemptions will be required to be tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis. However, state hospital and long-term care employees will not have the option of being tested in lieu of vaccination.
