Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim announces a State Department of Transportation safety improvement project currently underway on Route 127, East Main Street. Due to current pandemic circumstances, the original construction was paused, and progress delayed. Construction resumed April 27, 2020, and will take place Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm. Detours will be in place to redirect motorists around the project during the weekday construction hours. The safety improvement project, happening near the intersection of Evers Street and East Main Street, will cause detours onto Broadbridge Road and Huntington Turnpike. Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport announces PhysicianOne Urgent Care will be conducting COVID-19 testing for all Bridgeport First Responders on Saturday, May 2nd and Wednesday, May 6th. First Responders do not need to be current or previous patients of PhysicianOne Urgent Care to receive testing. First Responders must register before 8pm on Thursday, April 30th for Saturday testing, and before 8pm on Monday, May 4th for Wednesday testing. Register online at . Today BMW of Bridgeport provided lunch to the Bridgeport Police Department as part of their effort to give back to the first responders during the pandemic. Last week BMW of Bridgeport provides lunch to American Medical Response (AMR) and the week before that medical teams at Bridgeport Hospital. General Manager/EVP Tim Kramer said the police have had a tough job before but now it’s even more stressful going into environments they are not sure of. This is a small way of saying thank you!
UPDATE: The Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a 911 emergency phone call on Thursday afternoon from a Fairfield resident that mistakenly used a bleach solution in place of distilled water for a home nasal rinse. Emergency Telecommunicators initiated a 3-way phone connection with the Connecticut Poison Control Center at UCONN Health to provide immediate medical advice over the phone to the resident. LT John Calandriello with firefighters of Engine 5 arrived on scene within 3 minutes of dispatch and found the resident had accidently used a homemade bleach solution from a distilled water bottle container labeled as “chlorine” on one side. Paramedics from American Medical Response attended to the patient and assessed their health condition. Luckily, no immediate hospital transport…
