In March, Congress passed the CARES Act into law, taking important steps to help small businesses, keep employees on the payroll, and provide direct support for Americans with immediate financial relief. However, programs created by the CARES Act, like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Emergency Economic Injury Grants, quickly ran out of funding. That’s why I drove down to D.C. last week to vote on the 4th Coronavirus Emergency Response bill. Westport News: Structure Fire

2020-4-29@10:04 AM--#Westport CT-- Westport firefighters were dispatched to a report of a fire at a residence on Marilane. The initial dispatch was four Engines, one Rescue Company and the Shift Commander. A mutual aid Ladder company was added en route. Westport PD arrived and advised all occupants were out of the house. Westport Engine 6 located a fire in a 1 st floor bedroom and used a 1 ¾’ handline to extinguish the fire. The Rescue Company completed a primary search and checked for fire extension. Additional arriving companies assisted with ventilation, utility control, salvage, and overhaul. The fire was confined to the room of origin. There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants. Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim announces regulated hours for building operations and public services at the City of Bridgeport Zoning Department, Town Clerk, Vital Statistics, and Tax Collectors.  Entry into the government buildings for the noted departments will be permitted during scheduled appointment times.  All visitors must wear a face mask/covering while inside the buildings and while in contact with any other city employees. Stratford Drive-Thru Food Pantry Being Held in May

#Stratford, CT  – The Stratford Health Department, in conjunction with the CT Food Bank and Holy Name of Jesus Church, is hosting a drive-thru food pantry in May as a way to address growing food insecurity rates while promoting social distancing and limiting the chance of spreading coronavirus. The drive-thru food pantry will be held on May 12th at Holy Name of Jesus Church, located at 1950 Barnum Avenue in Stratford, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.
