Fire Displaces Three

Bridgeport firefighters quickly extinguished a third-floor bathroom fire at 146 George Street around 3:45 p.m. Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Ellis said Bridgeport police officers were already evacuating residents when firefighters arrived and successfully got everyone out safely.The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes and did not spread beyond the bathroom. No injuries were reported, but three adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.

Car Flips Into Building

A car crashed into a building on Madison Ave by Ashton Street in Bridgeport. According to witnesses, the driver was attempting to race another vehicle, when she lost control, smashed through a stone wall, and vaulted up onto the side of a building. According to witnesses, the driver, with an approx. 8 year old child and two others all got out of the car. Firefighters quickly secured the car, preventing any further damage to the building or surrounding area, where the car was then lowered via crane. According to unconfirmed radio reports at least 2 patients were treated for their injuries.

Bridgeport News: Firefighters Battle Sheridan Street Fire

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Sheridan Street in Bridgeport around 9:00pm on July 4th for a building fire. Deputy Chief Cody said companies arrived to find heavy fire in the rear of the building. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, knocked down the main body of the fire, and remained on scene for extensive overhaul, chasing hot spots throughout the building to make sure the fire was completely out. Cody said the crews had already been busy and were working in warm conditions, but were being rehabbed on scene. Bridgeport Police Investigate Scooter Crash at North Avenue and Thompson Street

On May 26, 2026, at approximately 4:19 pm, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received several calls for a collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorized scooter. The collision occurred at the intersection of North Avenue and Thompson Street. Bridgeport Police, Bridgeport Firefighters, and American Medical Response were dispatched to the location. Officers arrived on scene and observed Bridgeport Firefighters rendering medical aid to the operator of the motorized scooter. The motorized scooter operator was identified as an 18-year-old male of Bridgeport and transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital. The operator of the gray Honda CRV stayed on scene. 4 Alarm Fire In Bridgeport

Bridgeport firefighters responded to a large fire in the 1600 block of East Main Street that started in the back of a building and spread to the adjacent building. Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and stayed on scene to make sure everything was fully out. No injuries were reported, and everyone inside—including pets—was able to get out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and additional crews were called in to give firefighters a break during the long response. Firefighters were called to the scene of a home on Hallock Street in Bridgeport, for a house fire. They had to run a firehose line from Main Street, where unconfirmed radio reports say that cars ran over the hose line. Firefighters handled the situation and knocked down the fire. The extent of the injuries is unknown at the time, and the State Fire Marshal was called to the scene.
