GOVERNOR LAMONT ANNOUNCES FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE REDEVELOPMENT OF 12 UNUSED, BLIGHTED PROPERTIES

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont announced today that his administration is releasing $15.2 million in state funding to support assessment and remediation activities at 12 blighted properties across Connecticut, helping cover the costs of cleaning up these unused, polluted parcels so they can be redeveloped and returned to productive use, including for the creation of new housing and other economic development and job growth opportunities. The grants are being distributed through the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development’s (DECD) Brownfield Remediation and Development Program. The Norwalk Police Department is urging residents to take simple precautions after seeing an increase in vehicle thefts across the city. Police say many of the recent thefts involved unlocked vehicles or vehicles where key fobs were left inside, making them easy targets for thieves. The department is reminding residents to always lock their vehicles, remove valuables from sight, take key fobs with them whenever they exit a vehicle, and never leave a vehicle running unattended. Police also warn drivers to be especially careful at gas stations and other public locations where thieves often take advantage of distracted motorists. Officials said even small oversights can create opportunities for criminals and encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.…

Norwalk Man Arrested in Street Robbery Investigation

The Norwalk Police Detective Bureau has arrested a Norwalk man in connection with a robbery reported on May 19, 2026, near the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Larsen Street. According to police, patrol officers responded to the area at approximately 8:57 p.m. after a victim reported that an individual grabbed him and removed a wallet from his pants pocket. The wallet reportedly contained $300 in cash. The suspect fled before officers arrived. Detectives took over the investigation, interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage. Motor Vehicle Accident On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Norwalk Combined Dispatch received multiple reports of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 169 Main Street. Officers from the Norwalk Police Department, along with personnel from the Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital EMS, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders located a 34-year-old male suffering from serious injuries in the roadway. Emergency medical care was provided on scene before the victim was transported by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital for further treatment. Marine Unit officers responded to the area and located the two men in the cold water. Both individuals were safely removed from the water and were exhibiting signs of early-stage hypothermia. Officers also served Search Warrants at Hohn’s residence and his two vehicles. This investigation began on April 25, 2026, after the victim reported ongoing harassment and threats from Hohn. A restraining order was in place prohibiting Hohn from contacting the victim in any manner. The caller, who was outside the residence, reported that her 20-year-old son, David Erik Wenger, was inside the home and threatening to harm himself.
