Tennessee: After Billie Jean Hayworth defriended a 30-year-old woman, Jenelle Potter, on Facebook, Potter’s father went to Hayworth’s house and murdered her and her fiance, sparing their baby, who was found unharmed in his mother’s arms. Hayworth, 23, and Billy Payne, 36, were both shot, and Payne’s throat was slashed. Forbes has the full story here....
Police are investigating an accident between a pedestrian and a city bus in front of the YMCA on State Street around 1:45pm Saturday afternoon. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non life threatening injuries.

Mayor Bill Finch and Governor Dannel Malloy’s Undersecretary for Criminal Justice Michael Lawlor, working together with state and federal law enforcement representatives, will host a public forum on June 5 at 9:30 a.m., to strategize solutions to the recent uptick in gun violence in the City. The Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee last week endorsed Ernest Newton for the state senate seat he resigned in 2005 just a day before pleading guilty to three federal charges.
