Bridgeport News: Man With Warrants Captured

2020-04-30@ 9:11pm–#Brdgeport CT– Police captured a man wanted with multiple warrants near East Main and Seymour Street where the man abandoned his vehicle and was running through backyards on Seymour Street.   Police are now looking for any evidence he may have thrown along the way.

BMW Of Bridgeport Buys Lunch For Bridgeport’s Finest

Today BMW of Bridgeport provided lunch to the Bridgeport Police Department as part of their effort to give back to the first responders during the pandemic. Last week BMW of Bridgeport provides lunch to American Medical Response (AMR) and the week before that medical teams at Bridgeport Hospital. General Manager/EVP Tim Kramer said the police have had a tough job before but now it’s even more stressful going into environments they are not sure of. This is a small way of saying thank you!

Mayor Ganim Announces Regulated Hours and Services for City of Bridgeport

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim announces regulated hours for building operations and public services at the City of Bridgeport Zoning Department, Town Clerk, Vital Statistics, and Tax Collectors.  Entry into the government buildings for the noted departments will be permitted during scheduled appointment times.  All visitors must wear a face mask/covering while inside the buildings and while in contact with any other city employees.

Currently, the Zoning Department will be open on Thursdays from 10am to 2pm; call 203-576-7217 for appointment availability.

City of Bridgeport Tax Collector will open to the public on Tuesdays, from 10am to 2pm; call 203-576-7271 for appointment availability.

Vital Records will be open to funeral directors, Monday through Friday from 9am to 12:30pm. Request for a death certificate can be made by calling 203-576-8192 or email: patty.ulatowski@bridgeportct.gov.

The Town Clerk will open for recording land records only. Town Clerk will operate on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule from 10am to 2pm; call 203-576-7208 for appointment availability.

Bridgeport News: Car Attempts To Strike Police Officer

Police UPDATE: On Sunday April 26, 2020 at 2313hrs a BPD Officer came over the radio reporting that a vehicle just attempted to strike him as he was approaching it near Huntington Road and East Main St. The vehicle, that was determined to be stolen out of Greenwich based on the plate information provided by the officer began to flee at a high rate of speed leading police on a short pursuit towards the highway. Once approaching the highway, BPD called off the pursuit however; all surrounding PDs along with the State were provided the description of the vehicle and license plate over the police hotline. Later on, Westport PD spotted a vehicle that matched the description traveling in their town. The vehicle again led officers on a pursuit through Westport and Norwalk until that pursuit was called off with vehicle speeding doing 110mph. Bridgeport PD and State PD then witnesses the vehicle exiting the highway and entering the PD Barnum Apartments, where officers located the vehicle unoccupied on Arthur St. With the help of K9 multiple Juveniles were detained, questioned and thus turned over to their parents due to the difficulty of identifying the exact parties driving with the same face masks. The stolen vehicle recovered and was detained for prints and evidence. Along with the recovered vehicle, two other key fobs were found on the juveniles matching other types of autos.

 

UPDATE: Police locate the stolen Mercedes near Yacht Street.  K-9 tracked to PT Barnum Housing between buildings 10 and 11 where two suspects were apprehended, one of them had a key fob.  One of the suspects was 14 years old and was released to the parents.

 

 

2020-04-26@11:11pm–#Bridgeport CT– An police officer started to approach a suspicious vehicle on Jennings Avenue when the driver revved the car and attempted to hit the officer who had to jump out of the way.  Police engaged a short pursuit with the car on East Main, Knolltown, and a number of other streets when the car got on Route 8 southbound on Lindley Street when the pursuit was broken off.  The vehicle was stolen out of Greenwich earlier.
