Bridgeport News: Vet Charged With Animal Cruelty

2019-05-03 --#Bridgeport CT--Amr Wasfi, 74, of Derby was charged with animal cruelty and third degree larceny after detectives raided the Black Rock Animal Hospital located at 2877 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport.   The affidavit said the veterinarian performed unnecessary surgery on a dog back in February and a fired nurse told investigators that she told the doctor she was leaving for the day and the doctor became enraged and allegedly struck a four-month-old kitten he was spaying at the time. Bridgeport News: Fowl Play At KFC

Police UPDATE: A woman ( Karielys Ayala)  seeking employment had an altercation with the manager (Bhagmattie Persuad) that resulted in the applicant striking the manager in the head with a metal object and the manager  threw hot water on the applicant.    Ayala suffered second degree burns to her face and chest.  She was transported to Bpt ER by ambulance.  PO Gaie responded to KFC and spoke with the manager then followed up with Ayala at the ER.  Ayala was being treated in the burn unit and was arrested for assaulting Bhagmattie.  Officer Gaie returned to KFC to arrest Baghmattie however she was no longer on scene.  He then went to her residence at 465 Ruth but was unable to make…

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim announced today that the City of Bridgeport will resume paving Thursday, May 2, 2019, on Albion Street.  Due to inclement weather conditions, last year’s street paving was suspended early.  The Department of Public Facilities will pick up where they had left off with paving Bridgeport’s West End and Westside. The paving is anticipated to last until early June weather permitting. Mayor Ganim to Launch New Street Sweeping Program

Bridgeport, CT—As apart of Bridgeport’s beautification initiative “Park City Pickin’ It Up,” Mayor Ganim will launch a new Street Sweeping Program on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The revised Street Sweeping Program states citywide street sweeping will occur twice a month compared to once a month.  The sweeping will now also coincide with resident’s assigned recycling day to allow residents to know exactly what day and times streets will be swept.
