Fairfield Center Station Repaving Project Scheduled for July 8 – 19

A repaving and repair project will begin Monday, July 8th at the Fairfield Center Station NY/Westbound Lot. Work is expected to be complete by Friday, July 19th. The lot will be worked on in 2 phases. Phase 1 will be the Unquowa Road side; phase 2, the Mill Plain side. The entrance will be closed on the side of the lot undergoing repair/repaving.  There will be no designated permit or day parking areas during the project period. Parking will be available in the other half of the lot, Mill Plain Lot, Tomlinson lower lot, Tomlinson upper lot behind school (though limited) and the small lot immediately south of Roger Ludlowe Middle School. Fairfield News: Candles Suspected In Overnight Fire

2019-06-22 @ 11:30pm--Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola said unattended candles are to blame for an overnight fire on Longfellow Avenue.  Gomola said the resident said she was burning candles in her bedroom and she had left the 3 family home for a short time.  When she returned she discovered the fire.  Gomola said the woman did the right thing by alerting the other occupants and then called 911 from her cellphone outside of the residence.  The woman did receive burns to her hand attempting to put the fire out.  The assistant chief said by her closing the  bedroom door prior to retreating helped keep the flames from spreading.  The fire marshal is investigating. #Fairfield CT-- On 06-18-19 at about 1:45 PM, an officer was flagged down by an employee of Bob’s Stores who pointed out a vehicle that was fleeing from a shoplifting that just occurred at the store. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the suspect engaged the officer in pursuit for a short distance before stopping. When the officer attempted to make contact with the lone female operator, later identified as Lisa M. Briggs of Stratford, she rammed his police car and then fled the scene nearly striking the officer. She came so close to striking the officer that he had to push off the hood to avoid being struck by the vehicle. The officer did not suffer…

Note in my initial report that "The car had plates on it that didn’t belong on that car according to radio reports' Sha'Quinn Jamair Johnson (DOB 07/29/1998) was arrested and issued Misdemeanor Summons charging him with Operating Under Suspension 14-215 and Engaging In Pursuit 14-223(b) after Johnson engaged Officers in pursuit on Commerce Drive into Bridgeport while driving with a suspended license.
