Stratford News: Weapons and Narcotics Arrest

#Stratford CT--On 06/19/2019 the Stratford Narcotics Unit, in coordination with the Bridgeport Police Task Force, Safe Streets Task Force and the Norwalk Police Narcotics Unit executed two Search Warrants for Narcotics and Firearms Violations. These Search Warrants were the culmination of an investigation conducted by the Stratford Narcotics Unit and the Bridgeport Police Task Force that focused on Narcotics Sales as well as Firearms related crimes within the Town of Stratford and City of Bridgeport. The Target of the Investigation, Manuel Rivas D.O.B 07/17/1989, was taken into custody after attempting to evade Detectives when they tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop. I-95 Man Standing On The Jersey Barrier

State Police said There are no reports of him having a child in his arms… On Monday, July 8, 2019 at approximately 11:53 p.m., Troopers out of Troop G-Bridgeport were dispatched to the area of Interstate 95, in the area of Exit 40 for the report of a pedestrian walking on the highway.   Upon making contact with the individual it was determined that he was in need of a medical evaluation. I just had a woman call me, upset that she was possibly scammed out of over $1,0000.  The woman said she would help her find an apartment to rent.  She was introduced to an apartment she like but she was told the landlord won't rent to someone on section eight housing.  The woman said she did sign paperwork with the woman and she won't reimburse her fee because she did her job by introducing her to the landlord.  Now I know there are a lot of details I didn't get from the phone call but this isn't the first time I've heard of this.   You also have to look out for people who say they are the landlord and…

College Scholarships For Low Income Families

HARTFORD, CT – Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Commissioner Dianna R. Wentzell today announced that CSDE has teamed up with the College Board to launch a supplemental pool of scholarship funds available to students from lower-income families starting with the class of 2020. As of June 1, 2019, these students who join the national College Board Opportunity Scholarships program are eligible for an additional $40,000 in scholarships per year.   The College Board has committed $25 million over five years to the new program and has already awarded over $1 million in scholarships to more than 1,000 students across the country, including 15 in Connecticut.   “These scholarships offer a great opportunity for high school…
