Ansonia News: Shooting Arrest

On May 30, 2023, the Ansonia Police Department responded to Prospect Street on a report of a disturbance where a person had a gun and a shot was fired. First responding officers met with a female and a witness who reported the father of the female’s child had come to the residence, kicked in a door then shot the female’s car twice when leaving the area. The car, unoccupied at the time, had two bullet holes, and shell casings were recovered at the scene. The male suspect was identified as Taykwan Williamson.

On June 5, 2023, with the assistance of the Fairfield Police Department, Taykwan Williamson was arrested by warrant for his involvement on May 30, 2023, domestic dispute and shots fired in Ansonia. Williamson, age 27, of Fairfield was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Unlawful Discharge, Reckless Endangerment First, Criminal Mischief First, and Breach of Peace Second. Williamson was arraigned on June 6, 2023, at Derby Superior Court and released on a $150,000.00 bond, his next court date is July 18, 2023, at Derby Superior Court.

Shelton News: Two Teens Arrested For Stealing Elderly Woman’s Purse

#Shelton CT–On 05/31/2023 at approximately 3:00 PM a 73-year-old Shelton woman was loading items in her vehicle at Walmart located on Bridgeport Ave in Shelton. A vehicle approached the woman and the passenger exited and stole her purse while pushing her.

Eyewitnesses and video surveillance revealed the vehicle was Hyundai Tucson which

was later discovered to be stolen.

Shelton Police communicated with surrounding towns and the New Haven Police

Department stopped the vehicle a short time later. Two 16-year-old New Haven teens

were arrested. During the investigation, items from the Shelton woman’s purse were

located in the vehicle.

The two teens were charged with Robbery 2nd Degree , Conspiracy to commit Robbery 2 nd Degree, Larceny 4th Degree and Conspiracy to commit Larceny 4 th Degree. The two teens were held and transported to Bridgeport Juvenile detention. Both teens will be

Shelton News: Cat Burglary

Cat Taken during Burglary Located

On 1-22-23, Shelton Police took a report of a burglary from a hotel room. There were
no apparent signs of forced entry to the room. Several items were reported missing
including the victim’s hairless cat Princess.


Detectives conducted a thorough investigation which resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Zyair Lopez and 24-year-old Toni Douglas-Alves in February. They were charged
with Burglary 3 rd Degree, Larceny 3 rd Degree, Conspiracy to commit Burglary 3 rd Degree, and Conspiracy to commit Larceny 3 rd Degree. However, detectives were unable to locate
the cat.


This week detectives received a call from a female in Massachusetts. The female
stated that she bought a hairless cat a few months ago in Bridgeport. She learned the cat
may have been the animal stolen from Shelton in January. Detectives met with the female
today (5-20-23) and she turned over the cat after confirming it was the stolen animal. The
cat will be reunited with the victim later today. Detectives are still investigating the
circumstances regarding the sale of the stolen cat.


“We appreciate the integrity of the female who purchased the cat for $1,300 and
notified the police once she learned the cat was stolen so the animal could go back to the
rightful owner.”

Seymour News: Fire At Community Center

UPDATE- Possible fire in a vent.

2023-05-04@5:09pm–Seymour CT– #ctfire– Report of a working fire at the community center on Pine Street. Firefighters were there earlier this afternoon for a smell of electrical burning. All apparatus is being directed to the Derby Avenue side of the building.

Threat Leads to Drug/Firearm Arrest

On 5-1-23, a male victim called the Shelton Police Department to say a person known to him sent a threatening message that he was coming to the victim’s house. The victim was not forthcoming with details. Police were sent to the area and while responding were told that the known person was now outside of the house in a red car.

Police arrived and observed a male inside the red car. Police ordered the male to exit the car and come towards them. The male ran away and jumped into an adjacent river. Officers were able to get the male of out the river.

Police located a gun and drugs inside the vehicle. A check revealed the gun was reported stolen in 2014. The gun also had a banned large-capacity magazine. Forty-four wax folds of heroin and approximately 11 grams of cocaine were seized from the vehicle along with other drug paraphernalia.

The male, 32-year-old Tyronn Anyanwu of Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Stealing a Firearm, Possession of a large capacity magazine, Sale of a Narcotic Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interfering, and Breach of Peace 2nd Degree. Anyanwu was released after posting a$100,000 bond and given a court date of 5-23-23 at Derby Superior Court.

Ansonia News: Homicide Arrest

On April 6, 2023, Errol Salkey, age 18, of Ansonia was arraigned at Milford Superior Court for his involvement in the April 5, 2022 homicide of Johnny Class. Salkey, who was 17 at the time of the homicide, was taken into custody by the Orange Police Department on March 16, 2023 during an unrelated investigation and turned over to the Ansonia Police Department. Salkey was arraigned in Juvenile Court, where the case was transferred to adult court.

Errol Salkey was charged with Felony Murder, Criminal Attempt at Robbery First Degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery First Degree. Salkey is being held on a $1,250,000.00 bond and his next court date is June 2, 2023.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are anticipated.
