Fairfield Fire Department UPDATE: FAIRFIELD, CT, 6/17/2017: On Friday June 16, 2017 at approximately 10:14 PM, the Fairfield Fire Department received a report of motor vehicle accident with injuries involving a commercial truck and several vehicles on I95 South between exit 19 and Exit 18. Additional information received during response indicated at least one person was trapped under a vehicle. When fire units arrived scene, they reported a multi vehicle accident with one occupant trapped under a AAA tow truck and another requiring extrication from a commercial truck. Fire crews from Fairfield and Westport immediately secured the scene and began the process of gaining access to and removing the two trapped occupants from in and under the vehicles. The condition…

Westport Fire Department Promotes Thirteen

#Westport CT-- Westport Fire Chief Robert Yost said that due to a number of retirements within the fire department in Westport that thirteen firefighters have been promoted within their ranks.  In a ceremony Friday at the Town Hall Auditorium at  110 Myrtle Avenue, Westport. First Selectman Jim Marpe  swore in the firefighters in front family, friends and colleague.  Family members pinned the badges on those promoted.  A reception at the South Norwalk Boat Club followed.   Promoted were: Fire Marshal-Nathaniel Gibbons Assistant Chief- Matthew Cohen, Jeffrey Gootman, Brett Kirby Fire Inspector- Richard Calabria Lieutenant- Todd Denke, Joseph Arnson, Nicholas Marsan, Brendan McHugh, Kevin Dumas, Michael Grasso, Daniel Mascolo and Tobias Ostapchuk

Westport News: Cyber Tips Leads To Child Porn Arrest

#Westport, CT-- In March 2016, the Westport Police Department received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a residence in Westport had uploaded child pornography. An investigation into the source led to the home of Daniel Krulewitch. A search warrant was executed on his home in April 2016 by the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau and the regional Technical Investigations Unit. Searches of the contents of his electronic devices revealed over 50 images of child pornography. #Westport CT-- On 05/12/17, the Westport Police Department and the Catch a Lift Fund (CAL) hosted combat wounded veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan for the third “Westport for Warriors Weekend,” which includes workouts, community and camaraderie. Mental Grit Fitness Owner/ Trainer Andy Berman organized the event with the help of Westport Police Chief Foti Koskinas and CAL board member Adam Vengrow. #Westport-- On 05/09/17, the Westport Police Department announces the arrival of its new Marine vessel, Marine 1. The boat is an all season 10 meter NAIAD Marine Patrol Vessel. In 2012, after more than 14 years of service, the former Marine 1 was retired due to safety and mechanical issues. Since then, Police and Town personnel have worked diligently to acquire the vessel which arrived today. Westport News: Numerous Larceny Charges

#Westport CT--In October of 2016, Westport Officer Ruta Pratt responded to a Weston Road address on a report of a Larceny. The victim of this incident reported she was unable to locate her purse, and her bank advised her of fraudulent activity on her account. Officer Pratt was advised that the victim’s belonging were located in the parking lot of a Pawn Shop in Bridgeport. Officer Pratt followed up with pawn shop and learned that the items located were taken out of the victim’s home, indicating a burglary had taken place. Westport News: Multiple Charges

#Westport CT--In November of 2014, one of the victims of this crime came to Westport Police headquarters to file a report of fraudulent activity on his credit card. Officers learned that $13,000.00 was charged to the victim’s credit card from a fraudulent company. As Detectives investigated this crime, they discovered multiple other fraudulent companies which were created by Rachael Alexander and Marc Alexander. Rachael was arrested in March, 2017. Marc Alexander illegally  obtained credit card information from the victims, then would bill a phony company that they created. The amount of fraudulent charges totaled $27,000.00 for the Westport case. Marc Alexander was also investigated by other towns and States for similar crimes.
