UPDATE: Due to a recent fire in the compactor unit at the Westport Transfer Station, Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich is reminding all residents that spent ashes are to be disposed of in the clearly marked special ash bin available at the station. Ashes should never be dumped in to the trash compactor. Specific questions regarding disposal of waste materials should be referred to the Weighmaster at the transfer station entrance, or any of the attendants in the yard.

#Westport, CT– At approximately 2:45PM on January 11, 2018, Officer Smith observed a vehicle traveling with an improperly displayed registration plate. The license plate was checked and was found to be registered to a different motor vehicle. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Saugatuck Avenue in the area of Duck Pond Road. Upon approach, Officer Smith detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A K-9 unit was requested to the scene. The operator was identified as Abdullah Seifullah, 37, of Stamford, CT. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Jerrod Smalls, 36, of Norwalk, CT.
A Norwalk Police K9 unit arrived on scene and searched the suspect vehicle. K-9 Kai indicated on the center console of the car. A loaded handgun was found in the center console of the vehicle. 46 Methylone pills, plastic bags containing approximately 12 grams of marijuana and money believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales were located inside a coffee mug contained in the center console. Additionally, a soda can with a hidden compartment containing five small glassine baggies of crack cocaine and a scale were found inside the vehicle. Officers also learned Seifullah was the subject of a protective order. Per the conditions of the protective order, he was not to possess firearms. Both Seifullah and Smalls were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing.
Abdullah Seifullah was charged with 21a-277(a) Sale of Hallucinogen/Narcotic [2 counts], 21a- 277(b) Sale of Controlled Substance, 29-35 Carrying a Pistol or Revolver Without a Permit, 29- 38 Weapons in a Vehicle, 53a-217c Criminal Possession of Pistol or Revolver and 53a-223 Criminal Violation of a Protective Order. Seifullah was also issued a misdemeanor summons for 14-147(c) Misuse of plates/License/Registration, 14-12(a)* Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle and 14-213b Insurance Coverage Fails Minimum Requirements.
Jerrod Smalls was charged with 21a-277(a) Sale of Hallucinogen/Narcotic [2 counts], 21a-277(b) Sale of Controlled Substance, 29-35 Carrying a Pistol or Revolver Without a Permit, 29-38 Weapons in a Vehicle, and 53a-217c Criminal Possession of Pistol or Revolver. Both men are being held on $100,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on January 25, 2018. They will be transported to Norwalk Court for arraignment on January 12 th if they are unable to post bond. proud to announce that we will be offering another adult Citizens’ Police Academy this
spring. This is in addition to the Youth Citizens’ Police AcademyThe nine-week course begins on March 7 th . Participants will gain a better understanding of the role of the police department in the community.
The academy can accommodate up to twenty-four community members who will participate in classes designed to take them through the various aspects of law enforcement. They will learn about the different divisions and specialized units of the department as well as how the department operates. Participants will observe demonstrations and get hands-on experience with some of the equipment we use every
day. Academy instructors consist of highly trained and experienced Westport Police Officers. In addition to the classes, participants will have the opportunity to experience a “ride-a- long” with an officer from the patrol division. They will also receive CPR/AED certification from Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Services.
The program begins on Wednesday, March 7 th . Class participants will meet Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm- 9:30 pm for nine consecutive weeks. This class provides participants and officers an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss issues that affect our community. The academy is open to Westport residents age 21 and older. To inquire about participating in the academy and/or to receive an application, please contact Westport Police Detective Commander Lieutenant Eric Woods at (203) 341-6026. Applications can also be picked up at police headquarters and are due by Monday, February 12th.

#Westport CT–On 7/11/13, the victim forgot his money clip containing cash, license and credit cards in a pair of pants, which went to a local dry cleaner. Officers learned store employee Keeann Bardliving located the money in the victim’s pants and kept it. The investigating officer submitted an arrest warrant application for Bardliving, which was later approved and signed by a judge. On 01/03/2018, Westport headquarters was contacted by the Greenwich Police Department where Bardliving was being detained on the outstanding arrest warrant. Bardliving was transported to Westport headquarters where she was charged with 53a-125b Larceny 6 th . She was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on 01/10/18.
10:49pm–#Westport CT— Check the school delays in the morning as there is reported flooded hallways at Staples High School, probably but not verified to be from a frozen/broken water pipe.
(Westport, CT) On December 29, 2017 at approximately 4:45pm, a detective observed a vehicle traveling with a non-functioning tail light. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Compo Road South. Upon approach, an odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle. The operator was identified as Williman Olivero, 27, of Norwalk, CT. With the assistance of a Westport K-9 unit, multiple glassine bags of marijuana packaged for sale, a scale, and “vape” cartridges containing THC oil were located and seized. Officers learned Olivero had been selling the marijuana while working in Westport. In total, more than 67 grams of marijuana were seized along with currency believed to be the proceeds from marijuana sales. Olivero was taken into custody and charged with 21a-277(b) Sale of Controlled Substance (marijuana), 21a-279(c) Possession of Controlled Substance and 21a-267 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on January 9, 2018.
Elaine Daignault, Director of the Westport Department of Human Services announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s (formerly known as CTWorks) Career Coach at Westport Town Hall. On Thursday, January 11, the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.
The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area. The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities.
