On Friday, May 31st, the CT Department of Transportation will replace the Route 1 Bridge (East Main Street) over the northbound lanes of I-95 in Stamford.
Motorists will be detoured onto temporary roadways.
The highway will remain this way over the weekend until the following Monday, June 3rd at 5AM. Motorists on Route 1 will need to use local roads to detour around the construction zone. To avoid large volumes of traffic, avoiding this location is recommended.
On Friday, June 7th, the highway will close again at 11PM, lasting until the following Monday, June 10th. The closings will reflect the same timings listed above.

HARTFORD, CT – Governor Ned Lamont is applauding both chambers of the Connecticut General Assembly for adopting legislation that makes updates to the Trust Act of 2013 and plans to sign the bills into law when they are transmitted to his desk in the coming days.
The Trust Act sets conditions for state and local law enforcement authorities for voluntarily cooperating with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials seeking to detain and deport undocumented immigrants. It was created in an effort to strike a balance between assisting ICE agents when it serves the interests of public safety, and maintaining effective relationships between state and local law enforcement officials and those who live in the community.
Legislation that recently received final approval in the General Assembly makes several modifications to the act, including:
· prohibits law enforcement from detaining someone solely on the basis of a civil immigration detainer unless the person is guilty of the most serious felonies, is on the terrorist watch list, or a judicial warrant has been issued;
· limits law enforcement sharing with ICE; and
· requires law enforcement to inform an individual when ICE has requested their detention.
“These modifications strengthen the important relationship local law enforcement and their communities,” Governor Lamont said. “Passing on the responsibilities of the federal government to local law enforcement agencies stretches limited resources even further and shifts attention away from their main focus, which is to maintain the safety of our neighborhoods. I applaud the General Assembly for sending this legislation to my desk, and I will sign it into law in the coming days.”
“Our vibrant immigrant communities are part of the fabric that makes Connecticut great,” Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz said. “Expanding the Trust Act and closing loopholes in the existing law is not only the right thing to do but it will ensure that Connecticut’s local police departments are not burdened with the irresponsible and insensitive practices of the current federal administration.”
The legislation was passed in two parts – Senate Bill 992, An Act Concerning the Trust Act, which received approval by the State Senate on May 15 and the House of Representatives on May 30, and House Bill 1115, An Act Concerning A Study of the State’s Civil Laws, which was approved by both chambers on May 30.

On 09/11/2018, a Tierney Lane resident reported a theft of mail from her mailbox. She was alerted to the theft after receiving a call from Patriot Bank advising two males attempted to cash one of her checks in the amount of $450. The check was made out to “Jermaine Smalls” and the victim’s signature had been forged. The check was cancelled by the bank because of the unrecognizable signature, resulting in no financial loss to the victim. It was one of 7 checks stolen from the victim and fraudulently deposited into various accounts. The check written to “Jermaine Smalls” was deposited at an ATM into the personal checking account of Jermaine Smalls of Bridgeport, CT. ATM photographs also confirmed Smalls was one of two males making the ATM deposit.
An arrest warrant application for Smalls was submitted and later approved. On 05/25/2019, Westport officers responded to Wilton PD where Smalls was being detained on the outstanding warrant. He was transported to Westport Police headquarters where he was charged with 53a-129d Identity Theft 3 rd and 53a-140 Forgery 3 rd . Smalls was released after posting $5,000 court set bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on 05/31/2019.

En 09/11/2018, Un residente de Tierney Lane reportó un robo de correo de su buzón. Director of Human and Social Services, Julie DeMarco, announces a partnership with the Trumbull Human Services Department and Greater Bridgeport Transit to provide monthly rides to Veterans to the West Haven VA Hospital. Targeted at veterans, the new service will begin on July 26, 2019. and continue on the last Friday of each month.
“We recognize that many veterans rely on the VA system for their healthcare but transportation can be challenging” according to Ms. DeMarco. “The bus will start at the Bigelow Center in Fairfield, travel up to the Trumbull Senior Center and go on to the VA Hospital in West Haven, and reverse the route on the return at the end of the day’s appointments.”
Registration is required a week in advance at either senior center. There is no charge for the service.
