Police UPDATE: On October 14, 2024, at approximately 10:33pm, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received several calls for a pedestrian being stuck by a black Honda sedan. The callers stated the collision/evading occurred at the intersection of Chopsey Hill Road and the entrance to Route 8/25 north. Bridgeport Fire Engine 15, American Medical Response (AMR), and Bridgeport Police Officers were dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, a male pedestrian was observed lying in the intersection and appeared to be in critical condition. The male received medical attention, and he was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center. On October 10, 2024, Jason Acosta-Williams was arrested by warrant and charged with Sexual Assault in the First Degree and Coercion. The arrest stems from an investigation initiated in August 2024 when detectives looked into allegations of sexual assault. Acosta-Williams reportedly threatened to share explicit photographs of the victim with their family and coworkers if the victim did not engage in sexual relations with him. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued, but attempts to locate Acosta-Williams were unsuccessful until he turned himself in on October 10, 2024. Fatal Crash on Route 8 Under Investigation

Trumbull, CT – On October 11, 2024, at approximately 11:07 AM, Connecticut State Police from Troop G responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Route 8 Southbound near Exit 7 in Trumbull. Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle, driven by Leonel Diaz, veered off the roadway into the grassy shoulder and collided with a rock wall for unknown reasons. Mr. Diaz was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center by Trumbull EMS with serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Maria Nieves, suffered life-threatening injuries and was also transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased. Local historian Sue DelBianco will discuss the railroad line that ran from Bridgeport to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, which was called The Housatonic Railroad. DelBianco will offer a slide presentation showing captivating images of how the railroad aided in bringing industry alive in Fairfield County and what became of the railroad today.
