Hartford, CT – Attorney General William Tong this week led a coalition of attorneys general, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Office of Consumer Counsel, and the Maine Ratepayer Advocate urging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to reject unnecessary and unjust incentive payments to transmission developers. FERC issued a draft rulemaking in March proposing a series of generous new transmission incentives, including extra payments for basic measures that transmission developers are already doing, such as joining mandatory regional transmission organizations. With a federally regulated transmission system already weighted toward traditional, carbon-intensive and outdated energy transmission methods, the coalition argues that any new incentives must be targeted to encourage the development of modern, zero-carbon renewable resources. Bridgeport News: Columbus Statue Taken Down At Seaside Park

Mayor Ganim UPDATE: City officials removed the Christopher Columbus statue at Seaside Park and placed it in storage out of an abundance of caution for the preservation of the historic artifact, the need to respond to modern-day sensitivities, as well as public safety at large. Community leaders of all cultures and ethnicities are discussing ways to continue to honor and recognize each other’s heritage within the city of Bridgeport in a way that is peaceful, educational and supportive to all. Fairfield Updates

Beaches: The 4th of July weekend is usually one of the busiest weekends at the beach. I implore residents to wear face coverings when walking on the beach, at the concession stand or in the restrooms. Please keep 15' distance between your family and other groups. After receiving many emails and calls regarding people using the Bob's store shopping center on South Pine Creek Road for beach parking, I reached out to the property manager. He graciously agreed to allow for signage and for law enforcement to monitor the parking lot and ticket anyone using the lot for beach parking.
