BRIDGEPORT POLICE ARREST MAN INVOLVED IN HIT-AND-RUN
On March 19, 2025, at approximately 9:42 a.m., the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received multiple calls reporting a pedestrian had been struck at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Ellsworth Street. American Medical Response, Bridgeport Fire Engine 7, and Bridgeport Police Officers were dispatched to the location. Officers were advised that the responsible SUV had fled the scene. Upon arrival, Bridgeport Police Officers observed a female pedestrian lying face down in the eastbound lane at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Ellsworth Street. American Medical Response and Bridgeport Fire Engine 7 personnel arrived and rendered aid. BPD AND FBI TASK FORCES SEIZE LARGE QUANTITY OF DRUGS
Bridgeport Police Task force Officers, in conjunction with Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Tasks Force Officers, seized a large quantity of illegal narcotics from an East Side stash house on Wednesday night. In a stash house on Ohio Avenue in Bridgeport, officers and detectives found 1,555.82 grams of fentanyl pills, 209.19 grams of cocaine, 2.4 grams of heroin, and 1,704.08 grams of marijuana. They also found a press used for compressing powdered narcotics into kilograms, as well as other narcotics packaging equipment and materials in that house. PT Barnum Shooting
Bridgeport police responded to the 200 block of St. Stephens Road at approximately 5:57 p.m. after a ShotSpotter activation reported eight rounds fired. Police said one person self-transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time. The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating. Man Fatally Shot at P.T. Barnum Housing Complex
Bridgeport Police are investigating the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Johnny L. Nesmith, who was found outside Building 21 at the P.T. Barnum housing complex shortly after 1:00 a.m. Sunday. Police said Nesmith was struck multiple times and later pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital, marking the city’s sixth homicide of the year. The shooting happened hours after a P.T. Barnum residents reunion was held across the street, and police said a crowd was nearby when the gunfire occurred. TEEN, FATHER ARRESTED FOLLOWING DOUBLE SHOOTING ON BRIDGEPORT’S WEST SIDE
BRIDGEPORT, CT – Bridgeport Police have arrested a 14-year-old male and his 46-year-old father in connection with Thursday's double shooting at Laurel Avenue and Grove Street. Both were taken into custody several hours later at a motel in the North End by the Detective Bureau's Shooting Task Force, which investigates non-fatal shootings. The 14-year-old was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. He was processed at police headquarters and transported to juvenile detention. His father, Damien Mullins, 46, of Bridgeport, was charged with Tampering with Evidence. He was held on a $25,000 bond. 18-Year-Old Killed in Catherine Street Shooting
Bridgeport police are investigating the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Leon Richardson, who was found inside a Honda on Catherine Street Monday evening. Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and a man bleeding inside a vehicle. Richardson was found in the driver’s seat with a head wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. This is Bridgeport's 5th homicide of 2026 An anonymous witness told DoingItLocal that a red sedan was traveling on Catherine Street toward Harral Avenue when shots were fired. The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating the death of a Bridgeport man found shot inside of a car in The Hollow section of the city on Monday night. At approximately 6:45 p.m., dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and a man bleeding inside of a car on Catherine Street. Responding patrol officers found 18-year-old Leon Richardson in the driver's seat of a Honda with a head wound. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
