Potential victims are told they missed jury duty and are required to pay a $7,000 fine. They are given instructions on where to go to send the money. The calls are from fake numbers. The department received multiple complaints in the last week regarding the scam. The suspect has used the name of different officers. There were no cases reported in which anyone sent the money. Two Shot In Bridgeport

Bridgeport Police responded to the 690 block of Beechwood Avenue around 1:10am after multiple ShotSpotter activations. When officers arrived, they located one victim with a gunshot wound. That victim was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital by AMR. A second victim later self-transported to Bridgeport Hospital by private vehicle with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Mayor Ganim and Council Leaders Announce Plan to Further Increase Local Funding to Bridgeport Public Schools Bridgeport, CT – Today, Mayor Ganim and Council leaders announced a plan in consultation with Superintendent Avery and the help of the Bridgeport state legislative delegation to significantly increase local funding to the Bridgeport Public Schools. Bridgeport Police arrested a city man on Monday for a 2025 homicide in the Greene Homes. William Davis, 49, was charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Assault of an Elderly Person in the Second Degree in the death of Kevin McKinnon, 61, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, on September 10, 2025. Mr. McKinnon was found dead inside an apartment he had been staying at in Building #2 in the Greene Homes on Friday night of September 12, 2025. 4 Alarm Fire In Bridgeport

Bridgeport firefighters responded to a large fire in the 1600 block of East Main Street that started in the back of a building and spread to the adjacent building. Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and stayed on scene to make sure everything was fully out. No injuries were reported, and everyone inside—including pets—was able to get out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and additional crews were called in to give firefighters a break during the long response.
