BRIDGEPORT POLICE INVESTIGATING MONDAY NIGHT HOMICIDE ON CATHERINE STREET

The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating the death of a Bridgeport man found shot inside of a car in The Hollow section of the city on Monday night. At approximately 6:45 p.m., dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and a man bleeding inside of a car on Catherine Street. Responding patrol officers found 18-year-old Leon Richardson in the driver's seat of a Honda with a head wound. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The homicide occurred midway between Washington Avenue and Harral Avenue on Catherine Street. Catherine Street was closed for several hours while the Major Crimes Unit processed the scene. Bridgeport Man Charged With Murder After Laurel Avenue Stabbing

Bridgeport Police arrested a 44-year-old man early Monday morning after he fatally stabbed one family member and injured two other relatives during an incident at a residence on Laurel Avenue. Jahmar Whittingham was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived at the 960 block of Laurel Avenue at approximately 5:00 a.m. They encountered Whittingham in front of the house holding a large kitchen knife. He dropped the knife when ordered but then told officers they would have to shoot him. Whittingham refused to comply with further commands. Officers tased him, but he pulled the prongs from his body. Chief Porter Holds Press Conference for February 6th Homicides

Bridgeport, CT – This afternoon, a press conference was held to discuss the two homicides that took place during the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday, February 6th, 2023. Although unrelated, both homicides took place within a seven-hour span. The Bridgeport Police Department currently has additional officers on patrol for the remainder of the week to ensure the safety of Bridgeport residents that live in the areas of which the two homicides took place. The two victims of the February 6th homicides were identified as 26-year-old Tyheem Scales from Naugatuck, CT and 35-year-old Tyeshon King of Bridgeport, CT. Bridgeport Police Department says that there is no connection between the two homicides, but efforts are being made to resolve the shootings that occurred.…
