Bridgeport News: City Worker Injured

3:04pm--#Bridgeport CT--A city worker was injured and taken to the hospital after his city truck hit the railroad overpass at Railroad and Bostwick Avenue this afternoon.   Bridgeport’s Public Facilities Director Jorge Garcia was quickly on scene and told me his worker was pretty banged up in the incident.   EMS attended to him and transported him to the hospital.   The truck was in the area with pothole repair and it would have the dumping bed up at times.  Jorge and the police department are investigating why the dumping bed was in the up position when it approached and hit the overpass.  Jorge said the truck was a 1989 truck that was scheduled for replacement.  With the bent frame it…

Bridgeport News: Boat Flips Over 3 Rescued

5:35pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Just after receiving a call of a house fire on Soundview Avenue firefighters were called for an overturned boat with people in the water off Govers Avenue at Black Rock Harbor.  The fire boat and zodiac were launched and within a few moments the firefighters had the people rescued.  There were actually two overturned boats.  The one the people were onboard was already being towed by firefighters and was far off in the horizon even out of reach of my digital zoom.  Special thanks to Garth Trotto for monitoring this situation while I covered the fire at Soundview Avenue.
