Connecticut Families Can Now Apply for the Child Tax Credit

The state is now receiving applications for families seeking the Child Tax Rebate, one of several tax cuts approved by Democrats in this year’s state budget. Any Connecticut resident who claimed at least one dependent child under the age of 18 on their 2021 federal income tax return may be eligible for the maximum state tax rebate of up to $250 per child. Milford News: Firefighters Rescue Elderly Woman From Burning Building

Video Report- 2022-06-16 Firefighters just finished with a commercial fire on Woodmont Road when another call just down the street on Lyda Drive. Speed was a big factor as the firefighters were able to rescue the elderly homeowner. She appeared to have smoke inhalation and she was transported to the hospital. Firefighters found a van inside the overhead doors fully engulfed in flames. Automated Driving Safety

U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Edward J. Markey (D-MA), members of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, called on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to take aggressive investigative and enforcement action on vehicles with automated driving systems (ADS) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to ensure the safety of all road users. The senators’ letter comes after NHTSA’s release of new data earlier today, showing more than 500 crashes in vehicles with these technologies. “We commend NHTSA for making this data public. Understanding the frequency and severity of crashes involving ADS and ADAS is the first step towards addressing the safety risks those systems pose. Bridgeport News: Scooter Crash

2022-06-15@5:47pm--#Bridgeport CT-- First responders were originally dispatched to Berkshire and Kossuth Street for a pedestrian struck. EMS reported on the radio they had two people involved in a scooter crash and one person had traumatic injuries. I found the scooter and parts at Stillman and Kossuth Street. Witnesses said they saw a red pick up truck speeding up and down Kossuth Street when the collision occurred. The striking vehicle fled the scene. Police believed they located the vehicle on Washington Terrace. Family members are saying on social media that the person in critical condition is fighting for his life.
