Bridgeport News: Pedestrian Killed

On January 05, 2024, at approximately 8:00AM, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received several calls for an accident involving a pedestrian. The collision occurred at the intersection of Coleman Street and Washington Avenue. The pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle traveling southbound on Coleman Street. The victim was in the crosswalk walking westbound on Washington Avenue. American Medical Response, the Bridgeport Fire Department and Bridgeport Police all responded to this intersection to investigate and render aid. The Connecticut State Police also responded. The victim has been identified as 79-year-old Marilyn Jones, a Bridgeport resident, and she was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for injuries sustained at the scene. Bridgeport News: Rollover On Ellsworth Street

2023-01-04@7:33pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Just after 7:30pm Thursday night, first responders were called to Ellsworth Street for a rolled-over min-van. Firefighters used their skills and rescue tools to extricate the occupants. The minivan hit a parked pickup truck causing the minivan to roll over. The details surrounding the circumstances of the rollover remain under investigation as authorities work to gather information about the incident but a medical condition of the driver is being speculated as a possible cause of the crash. Bridgeport News: CRIMINAL ATTEMPT ASSAULT IN THE 1ST DEGREE OF AN ELDERLY-DISABLED PERSON

On December 17, 2023, around 12:40 pm, the Bridgeport Police Emergency Operations Center (EOC) received a report about an individual who had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was later identified as a 33-year-old man from Bridgeport, with previous addresses linking him to Stratford, CT. He is currently in critical condition. Later that day, at approximately 3:45 pm, the Bridgeport Police EOC received additional information from concerned citizens who reported a potential crime scene in the 400 block of Hollister Avenue. Police officers promptly responded, confirming the existence of a crime scene inside a residence with multiple pieces of evidence. Milford News: Burglary Arrest

On April 24, 2023, the police got a call about a burglar alarm going off at Bruneau's Service Center on Rowe Avenue. When they got there, it looked like a burglary had just happened. The front door was open, the windows were broken, and the cash register was outside in front of the building. The detectives from the Milford Police Department started investigating and collected evidence from the scene. As they looked into it, they identified Rashaan Cherry, Jr. as a suspect. Detective Dancy got a warrant for his arrest, and the Milford Superior Court issued it. Bridgeport Police Make Firearms Arrest

The Bridgeport Police Department (BPD) took multiple firearms off the streets today and made an arrest for firearms violations during an operation within the 100 block of Highland Ave (Hollow Section). The Hollow is a centrally-located neighborhood that is within walking distance of downtown Bridgeport.  It is the most densely populated section of the city. Clay Anthony McRay 29, of Bridgeport CT, was found in possession of a Hi-Point, 9mm, semiautomatic pistol, along with a magazine containing eight live rounds of ammunition. Mcray was charged Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Illegal Transfer of a Firearm.  McRay was exiting his car on Highland Ave. when he was taken into custody. His bond was set at $150,000. Bridgeport News: Explosion Update

On Thursday at 1:54PM the Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting an explosion and major fire in the Bishop Ave/East Ave/ Cross St area.   Bridgeport Fire, Police and AMR were dispatched and the Bridgeport EOC activated to Level 2. BFD On-scene reports indicated a large active fire locate at 50-57 Cross Street at the Tradbe Facility and a third alarm was ordered. The BPD began evacuating a two-block radius and began alerting residents to shelter-in-place to avoid smoke exposure. AMR reporting three victims were injured one with burns and two with smoke inhalation. All transported to Bridgeport Hospital.
