Trumbull News: Reckless Driver Captured

#Trumbull CT– #Bridgeport CT–In a story I was first to tell you about, On Sunday, May 10th, at about 2:00 p.m., a man recklessly driving a stolen vehicle struck and damaged several cars in Bridgeport, causing injuries, and then fled prior to being apprehended by police on Route 25 in Trumbull. Daniel Baker, age 37, of Bunker Ave., Meriden, was arrested when officers forced his car to a stop to prevent further damage and injury. Trumbull Police were advised that the suspect vehicle, a blue 2005 Honda Civic, had struck several vehicles in Bridgeport and was last seen traveling northbound on Main Street into Trumbull. A Trumbull officer spotted the heavily damaged Honda Civic traveling northerly on Main Street near Gisella Road, where the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over. The Honda entered Route 25 southbound and the driver refused to stop. The vehicle drove off the roadway near exit 9 for Daniels Farm Road, attempting to avoid police vehicles, but officers were able to block the escape.

 

Baker was taken into custody and charged with Larceny in the Third Degree, Engaging in Police Pursuit, Reckless Driving, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft of License Plates, and Misuse of License Plates. Baker was held on a $10,000 bond with a court date of May 29, 2020, at the Bridgeport Court. Baker has a lengthy criminal record which includes arrests for the Robbery, Threatening, Interfering with Police, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Assault, Larceny, Possession of Narcotics, Probation Violations, and Disorderly Conduct. Due to a current Parole violation, Baker was remanded to the custody of the Bridgeport Department of Correction.

Bridgeport News: 9 ATVs Seized

BRIDGEPORT, CT – Mayor Ganim announces the seizure of eight dirt bikes and one quad in an effort to stop residents from illegally operating ATV’s on city streets. The seizure is the result of an operation conducted by a designated Bridgeport Police detail. Dirt-bikes and quads have been increasingly visible throughout the city driving recklessly on city streets, disobeying traffic signals, disobeying stop signs and boxing in vehicles. As a matter of public safety, recognizing numerous resident complaints, the illegal actions and possibility for public harm led the Bridgeport Police Department to institute a Dirt-Bike/Quad detail. This detail targets dirt bikes and All-Terrain Vehicles, or mini-cycles operating illegally in the City of Bridgeport as outlined by the ordinance passed in September of 2019. On May 4 th the Bridgeport Police Taskforce Officers located and seized four (4) illegally operated dirt-bikes. The first operating in Nanagoat Park in the Hollow, two others in the vicinity of Park and Wood Avenues and the last one on Houston Avenue. The Taskforce again organized on May 7 th in which five (5) illegally operated ATV’s were located and seized. The first two were dirt-bikes located on Benham Avenue, the third a dirt-bike and the fourth a quad was operating on State Street and Lee Avenue. The last dirt-bike was operating on Shell Street. All illegal ATV’s were seized, towed and all operators were issued a $500.00 fine for violation of the City Ordinance. The City will continue to address this illegal activity to ensure positive quality of life and public safety.

 

Bridgeport News: Person Shot In The Head While Driving

Police UPDATE: Police detectives said On May 10, 2020 at 9:18pm, the Bridgeport Emergency Communication Center began receiving calls of a preliminary report of a party shot in the area of Vine Street and Park Avenue. According to Police, a male victim was struck once in the neck by gunfire while driving away from the area of Park Avenue/ Vine St. after a reported altercation. After being shot, the victim lost control of his vehicle and crashed. A male passenger was ejected through the windshield. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment. The gunshot victim underwent surgery and is expected to survive. The second male sustained head and body injuries and was alert and talking. Detectives processed a crime scene on Park Avenue and are working to establish a motive for the shooting.

9:21pm–#Bridgeport CT—Police are investigating a shooting at Park Avenue and Vine Street, the victims were in a red SUV that crashed into a parked car after being struck in the back of the head while driving. One victim that had abrasions went to the gas station to call for help. Both were taken to the hospital police are investigating.
