Pursuit In Bridgeport

1:00AMish—Around 1pm police attempted to pull over a car on Stratford Avenue but the car refused to pull over. Police said speeds of the pursuit was no more than 40 mph until the entered I-95 southbound. Police reported the car threw items out the window at exit 28 through exits 26. The car got off in Fairfield at exit 24 then headed towards the Staples circle when he doubled back the wrong way back on to Kings Highway East. The car rammed two Bridgeport Police cars on the way back into Bridgeport on North Avenue. The driver doubled back again on Maplewood Avenue and onto Mountain Grove Street where the pursuit ended. Bridgeport News: 2nd Fire At Same Home

11:10pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called once again to 166 Bond Street for a structure fire.  There was a fire there at 4:44pm this afternoon.  Firefighters just past the same house about fifteen minutes earlier for a medical call down the street.  The firefighter's search for people inside the building turned up negative.  Firefighters had the bulk of the fire knocked down within twenty minutes of their arrival.  The fire marshal was called to investigate. Bridgeport News: Free The Shelters A Success!

#Bridgeport, CT— Bridgeport Animal Control hosted a "Free the Shelters" weekend Friday February 8th through Sunday February 10th that was sponsored by the non-profit organization "Cathy Kangas Foundation for Animals.”   This adoption weekend was a huge success for 21 dogs and three (3) cats that were adopted and found new owners and new “forever homes.”  Currently, there are just two dogs in care of BAC that are available for adoption.    The Bridgeport Animal Control is proud to announce, “this is the least amount of dogs that BAC has ever had in-house, and by the way, these two remaining dogs are available for adoption,” said Sergeant Stacey Lyons.   “The event was a complete success and I am extremely thankful for everyone who adopted these amazing new family pets.”  …

Bridgeport News: Murder Arrest

#Bridgeport CT-- This morning, detectives arrested Glenn Pettway (DOB: 10-26-93 of 564 East Main St) for his role in the February 26, 2018 murder Alfanso Anderson at the Sunny Side Inn, located at 174 Lake Street. It is believed that the murder was committed while Pettway was attempting to collect a debt owed to a prostitute and that Anderson was mistakenly identified as the man that owed the debt. No evidence was uncovered to believe that Anderson had any connection to Pettway, the prostitute, or that he had engaged in any illegal conduct; it appears that he was a truly innocent victim. 1:04PM--#Bridgeport, CT- At 1:24pm fire units responded to a structure fire at 135-141 Madison Avenue.  The initial 3-story housing structure on fire subsequently became a 3-alarm fire that affected the adjacent structure which also had to be evacuated.  Units reported heavy fire on the second and third floors.  Bridgeport Fire Department safely cleared and evacuated all tenants to the outside of the homes.  A GBT bus served as a temporary warming shelter for displaced residents. Bridgeport Fire Department quickly worked on controlling and putting out the fire.   Both buildings sustained severe fire and water damage.   Approximately 31 people were evacuated, and all are now temporarily displaced at this time. Bridgeport News: Deadly Heroin Warning

Bridgeport CT – Chief Perez and the Bridgeport Police Department are issuing a warning to the community. There is a batch of deadly heroin circulating within the city. Zwart 4 (003).   A specific brand of heroin appears to have been linked to at least two deaths in the Hollow section of city in the past several days. White envelopes marked with a red skull and the words “Head Games” have been found next to multiple victims (Photograph below.)   On February 6th, a 57-year-old woman was found dead on Coleman Street next to these envelopes.
