Stratford Man Charged in Residential Burglary Case

Stratford Police arrested Joseph Benway III, 38, in connection with a January 2, 2025 residential burglary where entry was forced through a broken glass panel on a garage door and approximately $2,000 in currency was reported stolen. Benway, who had previously worked at the home as a contractor, turned himself in on November 12 after detectives developed him as a suspect through multiple search warrants. Benway was charged with Burglary 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, and Larceny 3rd Degree. His court-set bond was $150,000, which he posted, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on December 3.

Norwalk Sexual Assault Suspect Captured in Bridgeport Operation

The Norwalk Police Department began investigating a sexual assault on June 30, 2025, after a woman reported being assaulted at her residence. The case was quickly taken over by the Detective Bureau, and through the course of their investigation detectives determined that Dashon Robinson was responsible for the assault. Detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant from Stamford Superior Court. On the morning of November 13, 2025, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Bridgeport Regional Task Force, the Norwalk Police Special Services Division, and the Norwalk Detective Bureau located Robinson at a residence in Bridgeport and took him into custody without incident. Norwalk Driver Charged in July Pedestrian Death

NORWALK — Norwalk Police arrested Marc Owens, 56, of Norwalk, in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash on July 12, 2025 that claimed the life of 84-year-old Josephine Pimpinella. At 10:16 a.m., multiple 911 calls reported a pedestrian struck by a pickup truck near 133 Connecticut Avenue. First responders from Norwalk Police, Fire, and Norwalk Hospital EMS found Ms. Pimpinella with serious injuries after she was hit while crossing the driveway entrance; she was transported to Norwalk Hospital, where she later died. The Crash Reconstruction Unit and detectives processed the scene, gathered evidence, canvassed for witnesses and surveillance, and conducted a forensic reconstruction. Patrol officers responded, located the suspect BMW X1 traveling on Canfield Avenue, conducted a motor vehicle stop, and detained the operator, identified as Alexander Freedman, 37, of Norwalk, while the investigation proceeded. NORWALK — On October 19, 2025, at 2:34 p.m., Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call from a victim reporting that Edgar Mancilla-Giles was outside their residence in violation of an active full no-contact protective order. Patrol officers responded, confirmed the order was in effect and the violation, and learned Mancilla-Giles was wanted on several outstanding arrest warrants; his description was broadcast to additional units. A short time later, officers located Mancilla-Giles in the area of Ely Avenue and took him into custody without incident. Motorcycle Stop in East Norwalk Ends in Foot Chase, Taser Deployment, and Narcotics Arrest

NORWALK — On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at about 6:32 p.m., a Norwalk Police Traffic Unit officer conducting evening commute enforcement in East Norwalk attempted to stop a motorcycle seen westbound on Sunset Hill Avenue without a registration plate. As the light turned red, the officer—Officer Wargo on a marked police motorcycle—directed the rider, later identified as Vladimir Ruales-Espinoza, 33, to shut off the bike. Police say he refused and tried to maneuver around the stop. Officer Wargo blocked the escape; the rider dropped the motorcycle and fled on foot, leading to a brief chase across East Avenue.
