On July 22, 2025, the Norwalk Police Department’s Special Victims Unit was notified by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families regarding a report of a juvenile who had been sexually assaulted. Special Victims Unit Detective English assumed the investigation. As part of the investigation, multiple search warrants were applied for and granted by Stamford Superior Court. Detective English conducted interviews with victims and witnesses and reviewed evidence obtained through the court-authorized warrants. The investigation revealed that Mikel Matias Reyes, who was 18 years old at the time, contacted juvenile victims through social media platforms and solicited nude photographs and videos. The investigation further determined that Reyes enticed a juvenile victim to engage in sexual acts in exchange for money.…
On April 18, 2024, The Norwalk Police Department’s Special Victims Unit was notified by the Putnam County (New York) Sheriff’s Office that their agency had recently arrested Francisco Javier Gomez for an attempted sexual assault of a 13-year-old. During Putnam County’s investigation, evidence obtained through court-authorized search warrants indicated that Gomez may have committed similar offenses within the City of Norwalk. Norwalk Police Special Victims Unit Detective English assumed the investigation and worked closely with investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Stamford Superior Court State’s Attorney’s Office, and federal partners from the United States Attorney’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security. On January 15, 2026, at 1:12 PM, Norwalk Patrol Officers began investigating a report of a shotsfired inside of an apartment on East Wall Street.Patrol officers spoke with the complainant, who reported that Christopher Bromfield had dischargeda firearm inside the apartment during the overnight hours. The investigation revealed that Bromfieldfired the weapon while the complainant and a one-year-old child were present inside the apartment,in a separate bedroom.Members of Norwalk Police Department Emergency Services Unit Tactical Response Teamresponded to the apartment complex. Bromfield was located exiting the parking lot in his vehicleand was taken into custody without incident. Norwalk, CT — January 6, 2026 — Norwalk Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious package Tuesday morning on Westport Avenue, prompting a temporary perimeter and assistance from regional resources. At approximately 9:21 a.m., Norwalk patrol officers were dispatched to 370 Westport Avenue after a caller reported a bright green package with red wires protruding from it outside the building. Upon arrival, officers secured the area and established a safety perimeter as a precaution. The Stamford Police Department Bomb Squad was notified and responded to assist with the investigation. NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk man has been arrested following an investigation into fraudulent credit card use tied to purchases made at Home Depot locations in several states, according to police. On March 7, 2025, a victim reported fraud involving a company credit card, telling police that between February 27 and February 28, 2025, unauthorized purchases totaling more than $2,000 were attempted. The victim identified William Ayles, a former contractor, as the suspected individual based on receipts, notes, and other documentation. Surveillance video from the transactions was obtained, and investigators later determined the actual financial loss totaled $1,201.30. NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating an attempted burglary that occurred on Felix Lane, according to police. Detectives recovered surveillance footage showing three suspects involved in the incident. Police said the individuals were observed communicating with one another in Spanish during the attempted burglary. In response, the Norwalk Police Department has increased patrols in the surrounding neighborhood and is asking residents to remain vigilant. NORWALK, CT — A robbery investigation that began on Woodward Avenue last month has resulted in the arrest of a Norwalk man, according to police. On November 17, 2025, at approximately 9:04 PM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a report of an armed subject in the area of 42 Woodward Avenue. The caller reported that a male was outside with a firearm threatening individuals, while a second suspect allegedly stole money from the complainant. Both suspects fled the area before officers arrived. The Norwalk Police Department Detective Bureau assumed the investigation and, through surveillance video review and other investigative efforts, Detective Imparato identified one of the suspects as Jimmie Springer.
