The Norwalk Police Activities League (PAL) announces applications are available for their 2019 Public Safety Scholarships. All Norwalk residents currently attending a Norwalk high school are eligible to apply. Students must be a graduating senior in good standing and plan to attend an accredited college or university in 2019. Up to four (4) $2500 scholarships may be awarded. Requirements include: A minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average. A letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university. Current high school transcript addressed to PAL. Three letters of recommendation and an essay on why the student is choosing a course of study in Public Safety or related field. Applications are available at police headquarters as well as on the Norwalk PAL website…

#Norwalk CT--On March 22, 2019, the Norwalk Police Department was contacted by Recreation and Parks regarding a car meet scheduled for March 24, 2019 at Calf Pasture Beach.  Recreation and Parks advised that the gathering was not authorized and that a permit had not been issued. An Instagram post advertising the car meet was located. On March 23, 2019 the organizer, Vincent Promuto was contacted by Norwalk Police.  He confirmed he had posted the event but described it as just a few friends meeting up. Promuto was advised that he was not authorized to hold an event at Calf Pasture Beach and should refrain from doing so. Promuto was also provided with information about the permit process. #Norwalk CT--On March 21, 2019, the Norwalk Police Special Services Division and Emergency Services Unit Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant at 6 Center Avenue apartment 1 Norwalk. The search warrant was obtained after a lengthy investigation into Tyler Singewald, who was selling narcotics from the residence. Special Services Investigators seized marijuana, drug paraphernalia, $1300, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, a loaded 9mm handgun and a loaded .38 caliber handgun which was found to be stolen. Investigators also seized several rounds of ammunition. Singewald, who is a convicted felon and is on supervised release from prior robbery convictions, was home at the time and was taken into custody without incident. The Norwalk Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for Herman Lee Colter, a 52 year old male who is 5’-9”, 190 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black leather hat, black jacket, red hooded sweatshirt, red sweatpants and black shoes.   He was last seen at Flax Hill Park at 4:45pm today. #Norwalk CT--Congratulations to the 2019 January Officers of the Month, Sergeant Justin Bisceglie, Officer Javier Mogollon, and Officer Ralph DeVito. On January 12, 2019, they responded to an unconscious person at a residence. They quickly assessed that the individual was not breathing and began ventilation. They also determined that the individual was suffering from an opioid overdose.
