UPDATE: State police confirmed the man jumped off the bridge, leaving his car with hazard lights flashing on the bridge. His body was recovered by Sikorsky Fire Department’s fire boat and personnel.

Eris Hall age 22 of Bridgeport was arrested on 03-26-2019 after he led an officer on a car chase. The incident started at approximately 9:36pm on Stratford Avenue near Honeyspot Road and ended on Bruce Avenue. Hall refused to stop for officers and during his attempt to flee he threw a firearm out of the window of the vehicle. Hall had unloaded and dismantled the weapon prior to discarding it. The weapon, ammunition and high capacity magazine were recovered by investigating officers.
Hall was charged with;
Carrying A Pistol Without A Permit, Weapon In A Motor Vehicle, Illegal Possession Of A High Capacity Magazine, Tampering With Evidence
Reckless Driving, Engaging Police In Pursuit, Operating A Motor Vehicle Without A License and Failure To Have Tail Lamps
Hall posted a $25,000 dollar bond and he is scheduled to appear in court on 04-04-2019.

STRATFORD- A ceremony will be held for the dedication of Gunther’s Long Beach West at 10:00am on Monday, April 1, 2019.
The section of Long Beach was named after the late State Senator George “Doc” Gunther, a noted conservationist who served as State Senator from 1966- 2006. The new name was assigned to the area by action of the Town Council in June of 2018.
Gunther’s family will be on hand for the ceremony and dedication and will receive a presentation from Mayor Laura R. Hoydick on behalf of the Town of Stratford in appreciation for the many years of dedicated service he gave.

STRATFORD- Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick formally presented her proposed operating budget for FY 2020 to the Town Council this evening, offering a plan that holds the line on taxes, continues efforts to streamline services and efficiencies, and sets policy priorities for the Town.
“Last year we were able to stop the harmful cycle of compounding tax increases by offering a modest tax decrease, and I am proud to present a budget this year that builds off of this, without any tax increases,” said Mayor Hoydick.
The $228.3 million budget spends 3.29% over the prior year, with a Grand List growth of 1.40%, holding the mill rate at 39.90.
The Mayor noted that significant challenges for the town remain depending on final state budget action by the Governor and General Assembly which will determine levels of town and education aid that will go to Stratford.
“The budget proposed by Governor Lamont takes some and gives some to Stratford,” said Mayor Hoydick. “The requirement that Stratford begins to pay for a progressively larger portion of the state’s unfunded costs of the teacher retirement system over the next three years is of concern.”
According to the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) Lamont’s budget will cost Stratford $421,635 in FY 20, $870,716 in FY 21 and $1.3 million in FY 22.
The budget now goes to the Town Council for their review. Under the Town Charter, the Council has until May 12th to pass a budget

2019-03-17 @ 11:00pm– A car traveling over 100mph over the Moses Wheeler Bridge southbound turned off his lights to avoid the state police who were pursuing him. The car got off exit 32 and crashed into a tree in front of the Cumberland Farms 1290 W Broad Street. The driver of the pursued vehicle was injured and transported to the hospital by Stratford EMS.

Stratford Police UPDATE: A shooting occurred in Stratford near 772 Success Avenue on March 7 th 2019. The incident occurred at approximately 8:47p.m. at which time one male victim was shot twice in the torso. The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment and is in critical condition. The motive for the shooting is under investigation and investigators are asking anyone with information to please call 203-385-4119 or the TIPS Line 203-375-8477.
2019-03-07 @ 8:45pm–#Stratford CT– A person was shot in the 700 block of Success Avenue. Witnesses told me they heard 4-6 shots and saw a dark colored car speed off. EMS transported one person to Bridgeport Hospital prior to my arrival. Police were busy on the scene interviewing people and looking for shell casings. Bridgeport Police’s Shotspotter system activated for North Bishop Avenue. Bridgeport Police responded and found nothing, it was more than likely the shooting in Stratford caused the activation. The person’s condition is not known at this time.
