Stratford News: Rooming House Fire

#Stratford CT--Just before 3 AM today, April 4, 2018, the Stratford Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in a bedroom located at 259 Jackson Avenue. The fire gutted one room in a rooming style house. Firefighters arrived to find a room within the ranch style home to be engulfed with fire and occupants were evacuating. Under the command of Assistant Chief Camperlengo, the Fire Crews were able to contain the fire to the room of origin and had it under control within 20 minutes. The fire resulted in one (1) occupant to be transported to a local hospital for unspecified fire-related injuries and affected the living conditions of all six rooms. Stratford CT— From April 2 to April 30, 2018, Stratford Police will be out in force looking for distracted drivers as part of the U Drive. U Text. U Pay. campaign, a high-visibility effort to enforce distracted-driving laws. Drivers are continuously ignoring their responsibilities behind the wheel, and distracted driving is a growing and deadly threat on our roadways. 9:30AMish--#Stratford CT-- David Newman, Age 42 of 91 Gina Circle was arrested after he attacked his roommate. The incident occurred at the residence at which time Newman assaulted his roommate with a knife and stabbed him several times in the arm and shoulder. It is unknown what prompted the attack. The roommate was able to fend off the attack at which time Newman returned to his bedroom and waited for Officers to arrive. Newman surrendered to officers when they arrived on the scene without incident. David Newman was charged with Criminal Attempt at Murder and Assault in the First Degree. Governor Partially Activates Emergency Operations Center

#HARTFORD, CT – Governor Dannel P. today announced that he will partially activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 to monitor storm conditions across the state and prepare for winter weather that is forecast to have an impact on morning and potentially afternoon travel. Stratford News: Fraud Arrest

#Stratford CT-- On 2/16/2018 the Stratford Police served a warrant and arrested Waterbury resident Blanca Quinones (age 46) at Liberty Tax Service located At 353 East Main St, Waterbury Ct. Quinones is accused of stealing a customer’s personal information from Liberty Tax Service and using it to open two utility and five credits card accounts for personal use. Quinone has been charged with seven counts of Identity Theft and Larceny 6th Degree and she appeared in court on 02-28- 2018. Quinones informed police that she has worked at Liberty Tax Service for nine years preparing customer tax returns. A search of the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch website indicates that Blanca Quinones has five pending criminal dockets and is being…

#Stratford CT--The Stratford Police Department is attempting to locate Anthony Capuano age 79. Capuano was last seen on March 6 th at approximately 6pm. He was driving a 2007 Chrysler 300 color blue. The license plate on the car is YW9001. Capuano is described as a white male, 5’7” tall with brown eyes and white hair. Capuano suffers from dementia and other medical issues. Stratford News: EMS Gets A Heartfelt Visit

#Stratford CT--What an incredibly humbling week for our SEMS Staff!  We were visited today by a Cardiac Arrest Victim from 2/18/2018 who WALKED into our headquarters just 10 days later! He was able to meet EMT David Foster who was 1/2 of the EMS crew which responded on 2/18 and speak with Alex Lenches who was the crew chief in charge of coordinating the pre-hospital care. In emergency medical services, we very infrequently get to see our patients again, and even less frequently get the opportunity and honor to celebrate with a patient in their full recovery from a devastating event.
