Post Road East Closure

(Westport, CT) Westport Police and Fire Departments are currently on scene at 1550 Post Road
East, which is just east of Maple Avenue, due to wires coming down across the entirety of the Post
Road. Eversource has been notified of the incident, however it is unknown how long the road closure
will last as extensive repairs are required.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes, including Interstate 95, Greens Farms Road and
Long Lots Road, to avoid the affected areas.

Fairfield Police Announce Additional Arrests of Former Psychiatrist Lazaro Pomeraniec

Fairfield, CT – On Monday, July 28, 2025, Lazaro Pomeraniec of Westport was arrested by the
Fairfield Police Department for two additional counts of Sexual Assault in the 4th Degree. These
charges stem from two separate incidents involving individuals under his psychiatric care.
One of these incidents had already been reported and was under investigation prior to
Pomeraniec’s initial arrest on June 24, 2025. Following that first arrest, he voluntarily
surrendered his medical license.
Pomeraniec was issued a total court set bond of $200,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on
08/08/2025

Queens Man Charged in $50K Westport Burglary After DNA Match

Diego Hernandez-Corba, 30, of Queens, NY, was arrested and extradited to Connecticut in connection with a 2023 residential burglary in Westport where over $50,000 in jewelry and designer handbags were stolen. The suspect was linked to the crime through a CODIS DNA match from blood left at the scene, leading to a multi-agency investigation and the issuance of a warrant.

Westport Police took Hernandez-Corba into custody at Lakeview Shock Correctional Facility in New York. He was charged with multiple felony counts including burglary, larceny, and criminal mischief, but was unable to post the $30,000 bond and was arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on July 18, 2025.

Cooling Centers Open Across Stratford, Bridgeport, and Westport as Extreme Heat Continues Through June 25

Due to a forecasted heat wave with heat index values expected between 100 and 105 degrees, the towns of Stratford, Bridgeport, and Westport have activated their Cooling Center Protocols, effective immediately through 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

Residents, especially seniors, children, those with pre-existing health conditions, and anyone vulnerable to heat-related illnesses are urged to stay cool, hydrated, and indoors. All three municipalities are offering designated cooling centers with varying hours to provide relief from the dangerous temperatures.

Governor Ned Lamont also issued statewide guidance, reminding residents that cooling centers can be located by dialing 2-1-1 and emphasizing precautions such as hydration, limited outdoor exposure, and checking on vulnerable individuals.

Westport Police Department Arrests Residential Burglary Suspect


(Westport, CT) On June 21, 2025, at approximately 0240 hours, Westport Police responded to a residence on Riverside Avenue for a report from an out-of-town homeowner that there was an unknown male in his home.

Through his Blink security system, the homeowner observed and provided real-time updates to police about the unauthorized male in his home.

Officers immediately responded, surrounded the area, and located an unlocked, sliding glass door. The suspect unintentionally made himself visible on the third-floor balcony to officers and quickly retreated into the house.

Westport officers, with the assistance of a Connecticut State Police Trooper with K9 Gatti and a Norwalk officer with K9 Kato, entered the home in search of the suspect.

Norwalk Officer and K9 Kato located the suspect hiding in a closet where he was immediately taken into custody. The suspect, who was identified as Daniel S. Abraham (DOB 01/04/1973), had jewelry in his possession, which was later identified as stolen property from the residence.

Daniel S. Abraham was charged with CGS 53a-101, Burglary in the First Degree, and CGS 53a-125, Larceny in the Fourth Degree. Mr. Abraham is being held in police custody on a $100,000.00 bond. He is assigned a court date of June 23, 2024, at Stamford Superior Court.
