(Westport, CT) Westport Police and Fire Departments are currently on scene at 1550 Post RoadEast, which is just east of Maple Avenue, due to wires coming down across the entirety of the PostRoad. Eversource has been notified of the incident, however it is unknown how long the road closurewill last as extensive repairs are required.Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes, including Interstate 95, Greens Farms Road andLong Lots Road, to avoid the affected areas.

Queens Man Charged in $50K Westport Burglary After DNA Match

Diego Hernandez-Corba, 30, of Queens, NY, was arrested and extradited to Connecticut in connection with a 2023 residential burglary in Westport where over $50,000 in jewelry and designer handbags were stolen. The suspect was linked to the crime through a CODIS DNA match from blood left at the scene, leading to a multi-agency investigation and the issuance of a warrant. Westport Police took Hernandez-Corba into custody at Lakeview Shock Correctional Facility in New York. He was charged with multiple felony counts including burglary, larceny, and criminal mischief, but was unable to post the $30,000 bond and was arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on July 18, 2025.

Westport Police Department Arrests Residential Burglary Suspect

(Westport, CT) On June 21, 2025, at approximately 0240 hours, Westport Police responded to a residence on Riverside Avenue for a report from an out-of-town homeowner that there was an unknown male in his home. Through his Blink security system, the homeowner observed and provided real-time updates to police about the unauthorized male in his home. Officers immediately responded, surrounded the area, and located an unlocked, sliding glass door. The suspect unintentionally made himself visible on the third-floor balcony to officers and quickly retreated into the house.
