Westport News: Caretaker Pawns Items

#Westport News: On 02/26/2018, an officer reviewing recent Westport pawn and precious metals transactions observed multiple silver items sold by Maribeth Nixon. The silver items were engraved with initials different than her own. Nixon was known to the department as a caretaker for a local elderly woman with initials matching those engraved on the silver items. Detectives later interviewed Nixon and learned she had stolen the silver from her client. An arrest warrant application was submitted and granted by a judge. On 04/17/2018, Nixon turned herself in at police headquarters on the active warrant. She was charged with 53a-124 Larceny 3 rd and held on $25,000 court set bond. Westport News: Woman Faces Multiple Charges

#Westport CT---At approximately 3:00pm on 04/08/2017, officers were dispatched to the Black Duck Café on a report of a woman who left a cab without paying her fare. The woman was back inside the cab upon the arrival of officers. Officers provided the woman a ride back to her vehicle, which was parked at Longshore and which she claimed contained her money. After locating her vehicle, officers observed it matched the suspect vehicle involved in the previous incident. Once at her vehicle, she became agitated, uncooperative and refused to provide her identification. While attempting to sit in her vehicle, the woman struck one of the officers with her car door. Westport News: Pedestrian Struck

#Westport CT--On 04/08/2018, at approximately 1:30pm officers, were dispatched to Compo Beach on a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene. Upon arrival, officers learned a Parks and Recreation employee had been hanging signs on Soundview Drive when they observed the suspect vehicle traveling the wrong way on the one-way road towards her direction. At the same time, several other vehicles were attempting to exit Compo Beach and turn onto Soundview Drive. The employee instructed the vehicles exiting Compo Beach to stop and pull over in order to avoid an accident. Westport News: Burglary Arrest

#Westport News: On 12/18/17 at approximately 4:00am, officers were dispatched to an alarm at Parkway Liquors on Main Street. Arriving officers found the glass front door of the business had been shattered and the cash drawer had been stolen from the register. Detective Marc Heinmiller responded to the scene and took over the investigation. In speaking with other Connecticut agencies experiencing crimes with a similar modus operandi, a male suspect was developed. Investigators learned the male suspect, identified as Casey McAdams, 36,of Derby, CT, committed the Westport burglary with the assistance of Alicia Sheremeta who drove him to the business. Westport News: Unusual Trespassing Call

#Westport CT--At approximately 9:00pm on 03/25/18, officers were dispatched to a gas station on a report of an unwanted party. Upon arrival, officers located Lee Bember, 30, of Bridgeport, parked in the lot. Officers learned Bember had an outstanding warrant out of Trumbull, CT. The victim reported that on the previous day, Bember entered the station and picked her cell phone off of the counter and called his own. Since then, Bember kept coming to the business after repeated verbal statements and texts to stay away and leave.
